Attacked!

Lauren bounced on the back of the horse like a sack of potatoes. Her eyes were glued to the giant humanoid wolf bounding after them. She'd never seen anything like this! A high pitch scream leaped from her throat as the wolf lunged forward, it's clawed hand scrapping right at her!

Just then the knight changed the direction of the horse. What would have been a certainly lethal blow instead just barely missed, shredding the legs of Lauren's pajama bottoms. The wolf fell back, struggling to catch the horse as it turned. Lauren felt her fear abating, until it began lunging after them again. This creature was clearly faster then the horse. Lauren felt pure dread as the wolf lunged again.

Suddenly a few things happened at once. The knight whipped his horse around, drawing his sword in a smooth motion. Lauren, who was laid across the saddle lost her grip and flew off the horse, cascading into a bush. And the knight's gleaming sword pierced the lunging wolf's chest, killing it with a blood curdling cry!

The knight swung around, flicking black blood off his sword and looking for Lauren . He saw her laying in a bush, leaves in her messy hair, kicking her bare feet.

"We must hurry madame! More will be upon us soon!"

"What the hell is going on?!" Lauren screeched.

"There will be time for answers once we reach gleaming city! Come now!"

Without another word the knight hoisted Lauren from the bush as though she was weightless, slung her over the back of his horse once more and rode away.
