Chapter 4 by jonjacobs64 jonjacobs64

What's the deal with the brunette?

She lost a bet with her teammates!

I boarded the plane, again hoping against hope I'd have a pleasant flight. My heart skipped a beat as I waded into a sea of gorgeous girls and found my seat right next to a stunning brunette. There were volleyball players in front of me, behind me, and to the side, and as I sat down next to the cute girl in a short skirt, the whole crew giggled furiously.

"Hey," I said to my seatmate, trying to play it cool.

"Hi," she said simply and looked behind her at one of her friends.

"I'm Alex," I said. "What's your name?"

"Laura," she said.

"You guys coming back from a tournament or something?"

"Yeah, we had a volleyball tournament in Miami and are heading back to St. Paul. How about you?" she asked.

"Well, you're going to think this is ridiculously boring, but I'm actually a math teacher, and I volunteer to grade SAT tests once a year. I'm just heading back home after our three-day session in Charleston."

"Wow," was all she could muster.

"I know," I said. "But what can I say? I'm a hopeless nerd."

"No, it's cool," she said.

"FOUL!" shouted one of her teammates, who was sitting right in front of us. "Foul!"

"Shit," Laura said. "You don't have to be so fucking loud about it, Stacy."

"What's that all about?" I asked, causing her teammates to laugh.

"Well..." she said. She took a deep breath. "OK fuck it. I lost a bet. My friends here are forcing me to go through with the consequence."

"Sounds rough," I joked. "What is it?"

She sighed again. "Actually, we agreed that whoever sat next to me on the plane... would be... my master."

"What?" was all I could say. I'm sure I didn't hear her right.

"I mean, not like that," she said, hastily ... though I'm not sure what she thought I thought. "I just... have to answer all their questions truthfully and..."

"Yeah?" I probed.

"And do whatever they say for the entire flight."

"Oh really?" I smiled.

"Yeah," she said. "But you seem really nice, so I'm sure it won't be too bad."

"Oh, no Laura," I assured her. "It won't be too bad at all."

How bad is it going to be?
