Chapter 13

What happens once your back home?
You show Luke around
Once you reach the apartment complex that is your home, you take Luke by the hand and lead him to your apartment. Well, it's his apartment now too, but you doubt you'll see much of his own style in it for some time. You decide to try and make it as inviting as possible for now. At least, as inviting as you can make it for a Castillo.
Khayone promises that Luke's things will be delivered after dinner, since most of the pack are prepping the house in the woods for the full moon. He doesn't react to this, but you can see him eyeing his things a bit warily. "If you need anything right away, we can always carry it up right now." you say, cautiously taking his hand.
Surprisingly, he doesn't pull away, but he does look a bit taken aback at the display. Maybe physical affection was something the Solar Silence pack wasn't big on? It wouldn't surprise you, it was probably seen as weak. "I should be fine for now." he says, forcing his attention off his things, "Just... Can I please have the red suitcase? That has some... personal items inside I simply can't replace."
Khayone nods, removing the suitcase from the pile and giving it to the two of you. "Take a moment to relax and show him around the complex tomorrow." he tells you, "We'll introduce him at dinner as your new mate."
Nodding, you take the suitcase into your free hand. "Of course. Just send for me if you need help."
Khayone heads off, leaving the two of you alone. Your husband is still stiff, but seemingly relaxes a bit once Khayone is out of sight. "So... this is the Bloodrose compound." he says, looking around.
"This is the city compound." you explain, gently tugging him towards the building, "We have a smaller one in the forest that we're working on, but a majority of us work and live here most of the time."
You lead him to the apartment, dropping the suitcase off before showing him around. You start with the residences, then lead him into the commercial section. He seems taken aback by how busy it is, despite the smaller size of your pack. When he questions you about it, you simply smile. "We don't typically keep to ourselves here." you explain, "Lots of people come here for business. Humans, merfolk, the Fae... They give us what we need and we do the same."
"You don't fear them?" he asks, eyeing a few elves suspiciously, "They are merely feet from your home. They could do massive damage and you'd have no time to react."
"We have our ways to prevent such things." you explain, nodding to the werewolves walking along the sections border, "But we truly have no reason to fear them. They've proven to be trustworthy, unlike some... certain packs..."
"But don't they fear you?"
"Certain ones do, yes. But we can't let them stop us from enjoying the ones who don't."
He nods again, but you can tell he doesn't truly understand. You take a mental note to not leave him in charge of relations outside the packs. This is how your pack sustains itself. Without the businesses and the people they draw in, many of your pack would suffer.
You decide to show him the quieter parts of the complex. There's the old house you have transformed into a kind of political center. You have a 'police ****' on the bottom floor with a jail in the basement. The second floor is where Khayone and you handle the politics of the pack. He seems a bit more interested in this, asking about your '****' and what the two of you are working on. You keep a tight lip about it. He may be your husband, but you don't exactly trust him with that information right now.
After that, you drag him to the park. It's generally the quietest part of the complex and is the pack's mini-forest. You explain that he's free to us this for transformations if necessary, but you all mostly use it as a place to get away from all the noises and smells. As long as he's quiet and respectful of the area, no one should give him any trouble. "Send them to me if they do." you say, "I'll straighten it out."
He nods, gazing up at the tall trees. "I will." he says. You suspect he will spend a lot of time here.
Finished, you lead him back to the residential area for dinner. Your wolves eye him cautiously, but give him the respect he deserves as your mate. He returns to gestures a bit stiffly, but you figure it has something to do with his old pack. Give him a few months and, hopefully, he'll loosen up.
What happens now?
