Your voice was loud enough for everyone near them to hear. Everyone paid you very attention when they realized what you said.

You smile as you drink from a tankard put before you, and the crowd was waiting for you to speak. You loved teasing them like this.

“Avatars. Your Avatar can be your greatest asset, or greatest weakness. Some of you have your avatars just hang around an area doing nothing until you come back, achieving nothing. Some go to supposedly safe areas and log out with your avatars vanishing. In both cases you avatar can’t do anything

“However, I know you Players have the Avatars created for you, including their personalities. Most Avatars can wonder around and have the personalities their Players gave them. This means if the Player and Avatar get along, they can work together. Most Players only stay for a small amount of time. Often only eight hours at a time, like you have to be elsewhere the rest of the time, not including the sleep you need. Say the Avatar needs eight hours sleep as well. That means eight hours that the Avatar is active on their own.

“They can do things to help you, like completing herb gathering quests and other things. However, if you and the Avatar don’t get along, they can do things that undermine you latter. Imagine an Evil Player having a Goodly Avatar, like a Paladin. The Player just wants to kill, and does not care about the innocents. The Avatar might focus on healing the injured and getting the player into areas where there are no innocents, or deliberately sabotaging the Player by loosing important equipment.”

The girls look at each other and Zandra raises her tankard with Alizin, saying “To being honest with what we wanted to be like, and reaping the rewards!”

Others raised their tankards to that toast and drank. Others clearly had regret on their faces.
