Chapter 37

Corruption
Why?
Multi and/or subclassing and being well rounded.
After a bit you join the others while Zandra agreed to keep watch, but was close enough to listen.
“Those spare attribute points should be used carefully. Think of the areas you want to specialize in, and ways you need to even out your attributes. If you want to be very strong and focus on doing strong things, then your strength attribute will grow. However your other attribute will not and make you very unbalanced.
“For example, during that fight most of you had a lot of trouble because you had developed for situations unlike we were in. Alizin and Daenawl are not physical combat types, and yet they had to fight as such. Zandra is focused on her bow and arrows and yet had to tussle a wolf one on one. Franek is probably great in dark or crowded areas, but lacked that here. Jonis is the party’s tank, and normally that means the others are supporting him and covering his flank. This time they could not.
“You are all unbalanced in favor of your specialties, and I guess your leveling up only increased that. These points will help level that out so you will have better odd in future fights when you are out of your element. Not just that, there is the social aspect of this world. Things like Charisma would help you.”
There was nodding at this.
Smiling wickedly you tell them, “There are two other things to consider: multiclassing and subclassing.
“Multiclassing is when you change class. Normally you have to chose to do so before you reach a new level and it makes the new one in that level. There may be requirements. For example, to become a Paladin you may need a certain level of Strength and Endurance. Thus a Cleric who wishes to become a Paladin would need those stats high enough. It may also require skills in magic or something that would make it harder for a Fighter to just become a Paladin. A small quest might be needed. Another example is Ranger and Rogue. Both travel quietly, thus both get the Stealth skill. Thus a fighter who wants to multiclass as a Ranger might need the Stealth skill before it can happen, as well as Dexterity at a certain level
“Subclassing is when you specialize in a sub area. For example, a Rogue may specialize in being a mastermind, an assassin, pick pocket, burglar or some other area. A Mastermind would need high Intelligence, Manipulation, Wits and Charisma at the least, but less of the physical areas. A pickpocket would need higher dexterity, appearance, manipulation, wits and charisma, probably. A burglar would need Strength, Endurance, Dexterity and Perception.
“Any questions?”
