Chapter 25
by
Corruption
Leading the party out the gate, you tell them
“Think carefully”
That was an unexpected answer.
“There are 3 main reasons. I was not expecting a reward, but wanted to help someone while we got a chance to develop the wood crafting skill latter. However, when he offered it I knew that something was off.”
“How?”
You smile peacefully. “That shop sold pots of all different kinds, and of different qualities. However, he had this statuette on hand to give away? Does that not strike you as odd?”
The Players looked at each other with confusion and shock. Eventually Alizin asked him “What does it mean?”
“This is not a normal figuring. One thing you need to know is that people who have been assigned roles are obliged to try carrying them out, even if the reason for the roll no longer exists and the Gods try sending them elsewhere. I am an example. I am guessing this figurine is part of a Quest and the merchant had the roll of passing it on before he ended up being turned into a pot merchant.
“Look out for these inconsistencies and you will find many such cases. Just another example of the Gods not taking care of the small details when they cause changes.”
Yet another lesson well worth learning and not mentioned anywhere else.
You had said that you would teach them, and before they leveled or even left the town, they had received more knowledge about how the world works than looking over the wikis ever gave them. Compared to this, details about remote cities or different races pales into insignificance, when used properly. If they and those they tell chose to use or ignore it, then it is their choice.
You have had been traveling down a path and come to a fork in it. If you take the right path you will head towards the field for the herb quest, but if you take the left one you will head directly towards the forest. Of course, that is if you continue to take the paths and not just stray off it entirely
What does the party decide?
