Corruption
You smile and tell them
“By getting some Quests.”
Daenawl was getting confused and pissed by now at not knowing everything “But you said you don’t know where any Quest Givers are!”
“I never said it would be from one. Find a herbalist who wants to buy herbs cheep and you have a herb gathering quest. Find a builder who needs some stones and you have another quest you can do quickly if you find some stone harvest nodes while looking for herbs. Builder also needs wood for beams? Sure, we can keep an eye out for those. Blacksmith wants coal or ore? Might get some while harvesting the stone nodes, so why not?”
Zandra, who had been silent until now, asked “If doing multiple quests is so easy, why don’t more people do that? It can’t be stupidity entirely.
You smile. “A very good question. Most often there is a time limit, or they want to be able to focus on one quest at a time. There is another issue; imagine accepting 12 small quests at once, but are only able to finish 5 in a reasonable amount of time. That means the people who issued 7 quests will be annoyed at you, and may pass you over for other people who can get the quests they received completed in a timely manner.
“They might even cancel it. Imagine asking someone to get some herbs for an important healing potion that someone needs, from a field just outside of town, in the morning, and they come back 3 days later, to drop off something else, having entirely forgotten about the important ones? Hopefully they sent someone else to get the herbs in addition to your group!
“One last thing is that if you accept a lot of quests, they will bog you down and restrict you. Imagine having a dozen small quests to do, but you find a lead on serious Quest that won’t be around for long? However, you can’t do it while the other quests are waiting. Wait, what’s this? You kill a bandit and loot their camp for treasure, finding a fortune . . . but your inventory is full from fetch quests you need to finish quickly?”
They looked at each and Jonis asked “So, where do we start?”
You smile. “I know just the place to start with.”
What is it?
