Gear up

Of course you do! Playing is much better than cleaning after all.

The other goalie finds some extra training pads and you put them on. They're a little small but you make do. You skate out and the take are divided up with the traditional random stick drop. You end up on the same team as both of the twins but you can't tell them apart in their practice gear.

After some quick warm up drills the captains get the game started. While women's hockey doesn't have checking they still play physical and they're fast. You quickly realize these girls play on a higher level than you saw in high school and you completely miss catching the first shot against you as it came in over your glove but fortunately it went high and clanged off the top pipe and behind the net. Unfortunately you did even worse against the second shot that went through your legs and into the net. Down 1-0.

One of the twins skates up to you and smacks your pads "get your head into the game dweeb!" Must be Jackie you tell yourself.

But she's right. You need to focus. You need to do better. For the rest of the scrimmage you're on fire. Nothing gets by you and your team scores on the other side of the ice. 1-1.

During a faceoff, you notice the men's team start to filter into the bench, and are cheering on the game. Their ice time must be coming up soon. The women's captain briefly talks to men's team captain and the she shouts "next goal wins!"

The other team wins the faceoff and comes down the ice. They set up a one-timer but you catch it in your glove. They ease up, clearly expecting you to keep the puck, and you see one of your forwards wide open on the edge of the rink. You take the risk and drop the puck and quickly pass it to the forward. She bolts past the other team's unprepared defense for a breakaway. You can't see what happens next through the other players, but you hear the ring of a pipe, followed by the cheering of your teammates. You skate down to join in on the celebration and find Josie to be the goal scorer!

You all celebrate for a bit and then skate off the ice so the men's team can begin their captain's practice. Most of them compliment you on your saves and assist from the net. One of them tease you for "beating up the girls" but one of the women defenders gives him a cup check and he drops below the boards while his peers laugh at him.

Back in the locker room you undress in your cramped and still trashed office. You go through a door into the faculty showers which are nicer then you expect, marble floor and polished fixtures meet you eye but you shower quickly nonetheless and go back to your office to change.

Once there, you quickly see that you're not alone. Josie is there waiting for you, dripping wet and covered only by her own towel.

"You were amazing out there boy” she says seductively "how about a reward?'
