The Window

As the elevator doors slowly started to open, Rebecca bolted for the open window, climbing through it as she flattened herself to the side of the building. As she stood there with her hand over her mouth, chest heaving slowly, she could hear the voice of the person who was exiting the elevator.

"I'm serious, Mom." A woman said as she spoke into her cellphone, "Some yahoos actually thought that stealing Oscar from the City Zoo was a good idea. I was late to work because the police had to barricade the roads to keep him from rampaging through town. What's that? Yes, Oscar the Preforming Elephant. Raccoon City Zoo only has one famous Oscar."

Rebecca listened to this woman prattle on about the events from today, shaking from both the cold night breeze on her still wet skin and from the humiliation of almost being seen. Peeking through the window, she saw the woman standing at the door closest to the window, thankfully too preoccupied with her phone call to see the naked police officer on the fire escape.

"Yes, Mom," The woman said as she pulled her keys out of her purse, "I'm sure that Officer Wesker was there too."

Rebecca rolled her eyes, knowing full well that Wesker hadn't shown up to help with the Oscar incident, especially when Jill and Chris had enough time to help out. Now that she thought about it, no one at the station had seen Wesker in a while...

"What?!" The woman shouted, causing Rebecca to jump a bit as she flattened herself against the wall again. She took a quick peek to see the woman blushing profusely as she glared at her phone. "No, Mother. I didn't ask him out. Well, I don't care how much of a nice man you think he is, I still say that he gives me the creeps."

Rebecca closed her eyes as she nodded. That was something she could definitely agree with.

"Now, Officer Kennedy, that's a man who I'd love to - " the woman stopped for a second as she turned to face the window, Rebecca biting her lip as she pinned herself against the wall once more while her cheeks went red. Had she been seen?!

"Hang on, Mom. I need to take care of something before someone informs my superintendent and I get in trouble for it." She said as she walked over to the window, "Apparently, some punks left the window open."

Rebecca's eyes went wide, the young woman letting out a gulp as her entire body went red. She closed her eyes tightly as she waited for the inevitable. What happened instead, however, was the young officer's eyes widening in horror and her blood running cold as she heard a familiar sound.

*Thunk*

*Click*

"Oh, please no..." Rebecca whispered in terror. Looking towards the now closed window, she saw the woman walking away and entering her apartment while she was still on her phone. Rebecca immediately shot her hands to her chest and privates as she now realized that her situation was now worse than it was before.

She was no longer locked outside her apartment butt naked. She was locked outside her apartment building butt naked!
