In the hospital

You’ve been awake for a few days. The shock of the bullet sent you into a coma. Apparently the bullet grazed the side of your skull and didn’t hit anything vital (skulls are a lot harder than you thought). After you got shot, Tommy killed everyone else in the bar, took the money and gold and torched the place. They still haven’t found Sammy’s body. That part hurt the most. Sammy was the closest to family you had. You’ve been informed that the police are coming today to ask you questions. Apparently they know what happened leading up to the gunshots. They knew about the heist and they knew you were involved but they couldn’t pin anything concrete on you. Of course they couldn’t. Tommy had set you up with perfect alibis.

A police officer walks into your room and drags a chair next to your bed. After sitting down he pulls out a notebook.

“Hi luke, my names Craig. I need you to answer some questions for me, if you are able to that is. I’m not gonna **** anything on you”

“Yes sir.” You reply weakly, obviously still recovering.

“Could you tell me who was at the bar with you?”

“Dont you already know that officer?” You replied, already knowing why he was asking.

“We do, but we need your account.”

You vision got fuzzy as you tried to remember that night. “Ellis Valeni. He’s the small black dude”

Craig scribbled in his notebook before looking back at you. “I take it he’s your brother?”

“Adopted brother. The loud Irish dude was Jamie O’mally. He was a good friend of mine and Ellis.”

“I see.” He scribbled in his notebook a little more before looking back

“And the handsome looking feller was Joey Gale.”

“Tommy’s son?”

“Yes sir.”

“Interesting, Luke do you know who died that day?”

Your vision went fuzzy again.

“Everyone except Tommy. That’s what I heard.”

Craig took a huge sigh before continuing, “We didn’t find Joeys body. We also didn't find any evidence that he was killed.”

As you realised what he meant you started to see red. Joey escaped, which means he was either real lucky or was working with Tommy. You already knew what was more likely, considering how much he looked up to his dad.

Craig stood up and pocketed his notebook. “Well good news, you’re not going to jail. We don’t have anything reliable to prosecute you. From what I’ve heard you’re getting discharged today. The bar is destroyed but we managed to salvage a few of your belongings. They’re with the nurses at reception. Do you have a place to stay?”

“I’ll figure something out.” You reply, knowing full well you didn’t.

“Good man. I’m sorry we couldn’t do more for you.” And with that, he walked off.

In the afternoon you were discharged. On the way out you took your backpack and clothes. Surprisingly, your phone was still intact. You unlocked it and dialled a number.
