She'll get hers later, time for some fast fun

Given how my heart spend through that ride I could only guess what was going through Mai's mind, her sly and naughty smirk being worn every time she glanced at me from the corner of my eye. For my part I was trying to think of a way to get back at her but I eventually settled to wait until home, my apparent 'defeat' making Mai's modest smile just a little bit wider than before.

"So where too John?" Mai asked, her voice a touch huskier than before, a teasing tone that almost made me want to rethink my decision to wait until home. Shaking it off mentally I returned her smile, "Well since you like a bit of 'risk' in your rides," at this Mai blushed a bit but withheld her smug smirk, "I think we'll go for one of the roller coasters this time." Obviously the name held no meaning to Mai so she simply quirked and eyebrow, looking at me with blatant confusion until I pointed to one of the monstrous metal creations above.

Instantly Mai's eyes grew wide, looking up at the multitude of twists and turns as well as loops made her look back at me, almost asking if I was joking. I grinned and began to lead her this time, walking in the direction of the one wooden roller coaster on the grounds, a simpler and slower ride than the gigantic metal beasts behind us. All the while Mai seemed to follow with a bit less enthusiasm than when we were going towards the Tunnel of Love...go figure.

In no time we are in line for the ride, the wait being a decently long time which gave us time to talk and since no one around us paid a single second of attention we were free to talk of anything we desired...mostly. "John," Mai mumbled, her face a stone statue but her hand quivering slightly, "Are you sure this thing is safe?" I chuckled quietly, leaning in and whispering in her ear with a grin, "safer than what you did in the boat." Mai's face turned a deep red and she lightly pushed me away, her effort thwarted by her own hand still holding mine with a tight grip.

I wanted to ask many things, most of which dealing with what prompted her actions in the boat, but I ignored it for the most part and instead answered more of her questions about what was going on around her. It was very interesting trying to explain to her the wonders of the 'future' while we waited in line at the oldest ride in the park...it was somewhat surreal when I thought about it. Yet, in the midst of a conversation involving what I believed was the mechanics of cars our time was up, Mai and I sitting down in the cart and preparing for the ride of Mai's life...
