Chapter 67 by Yellowjack42 Yellowjack42

Start small or aim high?

Right in the middle

It took some time but Mai finally was able to calm herself down, not enough to stop staring at everything in wonder but enough that she could respond to my question with at least some bit of thought, "I suppose...is there anything in between?" Her voice was slightly nervous, worry over whether the machines were safe or not making it into voice without her being able to reign it back.

I thought for a little bit, thinking what could be in between the Ferris wheel and the roller coaster for a minute or two before it hit me...who didn't love Tea Cups? I chuckled, sure Mai might kill me since it is a pretty tame ride initially...but these were the tea cups where you could control the speed with the wheel in the center, easily turning it up to a pretty intense speed if you wanted to.

Soon enough we were standing in line for the Tea Cups, something that Mai found somewhat embarrassing judging by the number of children staring at her. However, I felt that she was a bit more comfortable seeing older people, probably teenagers and college students, standing around and cackling like morons as usual. Mai glanced towards me, blushing brightly as she mumbled, "Are you sure this is not some sort of child's play ride? If it is..." The embarrassed threat hung in the air but I payed it no mind, merely smiling back with a wink, "Trust me, this will be fun."

Given the circumstances I took her blushing grunt as a word of trust, something that I was happy to receive. Soon enough we were next in line, the line conductor giving Mai a few confused looks but overall letting us both get on the ride without an issue. "So...what does this do?" Mai question, looking at me over the wheel between us. "It goes around in a circle a spins," I said plainly, Mai raising a skeptical eyebrow over the thrill of such a ride. I only grinned in return, something that earned her skeptical look a tint of confusion. Once all of the kids, as well as a few Adults got on the ride it began, the music starting and the cup beginning to spin at a leisurely pace.

At first Mai sighed, boredom in her voice as she spoke, "How is this thrilling?" I grinned and grabbed hold of the wheel, my hands tensing around the circle as I responded, "You might want to hold on." With a great pull I began to spin the wheel, the cup gaining momentum and Mai being pressed harder into her seat. Soon enough we were spinning like no other, me with my hands on the wheel and spinning us as Mai held on tight...to me. The ride was short but sweet, Mai silent through the ride as it went. When it was all over we got off the ride, walking out the exit with a bit of a wobble. I turned to Mai, looking into her eyes as I asked, "So what did you think?"

Did Mai enjoy the ride?
