Worry AKA damn good programers

For several moments Mai and I were silent, the tension in the room growing by the second. Eventually Mai chuckled, a short and sharp expression as she spoke, "So she was telling the truth..." I was taken aback rather quickly, "who was telling the truth?" Mai looked up at me with sorrowful eyes, a blank smile upon her lips as she spoke, "Azula. She said that there had been an escaped servant raid in Ba Sing Se and someone who matched your description was one of only a few that escaped." My eyes widened in mock surprise, whoever was in charge for writing Mai's programming deserved some sort of award I swear.

"What? How did she know?" I exclaimed, playing my part as confused ex-servant. Mai stirred her soup, seemingly uninterested in eating as she spoke, "That trap you spoke of...Azula set it up as well as several others in areas that she had influence in. She used Fire Kingdom spies to lure in ex-servants so she could 'punish' them then return them to their rightful 'families'...at least that is what she said she did." Shaking her head Mai sighed, "but from what you told me...I guess returning them was the least of her worries."

I seriously began thinking about sending a letter of congratulations to the programmers at the company, they were really good at what they did. With a sigh, something I was beginning to pick up from Mai, I moved my chair so it was close to Mai, letting an arm fall over her shoulders as I spoke, "So...if I had been caught then Azula would have had me and then..." Mai nodded, turning her face into my shoulder as she did so, "I...I don't want to think of it." For a long time we were quiet, Mai buried into my shoulder and shivering slightly at the thought of what Azula would have done to me...even I felt a bit nervous over the possibilities.

Never the less, if we were to get any further I would have to put up a brave front so I smiled, something that I was certain Mai would 'remember' as comforting, "Come on now Mai." Mai looked up in surprise at me face, her cheeks tinting pink at my smile, "That's enough depressing thoughts for the day." I chuckled, leaning in and giving her a brief kiss on the nose, "we all know you need to be more depressed." Mai rolled her eyes as a small smirk crossed her face, "Oh shut up." Despite this I leaned in and gave Mai a soft kiss, breaking away with a grin and a question, "So what do you want to do now?"
