Chapter 22
What's next?
Monday: an appointment for....what?
"Mia. I made you breakfast." Tanya said to the smiling form of her boyfriend on the bed. The breast forms were off, his fake vagina on, his nails were immaculate, his hair just as perfect.....If it weren't for his flat chest, Simon Finch wouldn't exist at all, at least in her eyes.
Simon woke up, and after downing a glass of water, his medicine, and polishing off breakfast in bed that he got from Tanya, he dozed off once more. Tanya came back to him slumped over. Taking his tray, she got herself dressed, and reappeared next to Simon; lightly slapping him up, she gave him a second dose of medicine.
He was more than pliable in the morning, and if he hadn't had a pulse, he'd have been closer to a doll than a human. Tanya showered him, did Mia's makeup, and all around brought Mia Lozeno into the world.
Simon finally was truly awake when the makeup was done, and the clothes came on.
"Huh? Where are we going babe?" Simon asked.
"Remember we needed to go to the Doctor's? Don't tell me you forgot." Tanya asked with mock surprise. Simon had forgotten.
"So-sorry baby. I must've forgot." Simon replied.
"Not baby, novia." Tanya said with a wag of the finger.
"Si." Mia Lozeno replied.
"I'm sorry El Doctor, I'm just a bit confuso por que I'm signing all this paperwork." Mia Lozeno said, sipping the water Senor Eric had so lovingly provided; in the room sat Eric, Mia, Tanya and Reggy. Neither Reggy, the doctor from golf, nor Tanya, silent as a statue, had spoken.
"It's what we talked about Mia." His hand went across the table. He played with Mia's palm. He of course, was referring to their email interaction, but Mia figured it was regarding anxiety.
"Si." Mia said with a nod. Release from liability form. Consent to surgery. Understanding of patient rights. All of it looked routine, at least to Mia's dazed and confused mind; she had sat in the lobby while Tanya 'went to check on her appointment'.
"You're a good friend for coming along, but Mia should be lucid enough after the surgery to be by herself." Eric said to Tanya. She'd requested a brief meeting with him.
"Oh, no, Mia's quite the baby with pain, I wouldn't want to see her alone." Tanya said. Her plan hinged on his help. Unknowing help, but his help nonetheless. "Doctor, Mia was telling me she is considering not getting the surgery. Full stop."
Eric hesitated for a second. Tanya grabbed the initiative of the conversation.
"She said if we discuss it to much, her nerves will get to her, and she'll be out. Just two days ago she was so excited. I have no idea what happened." Tanya said while rubbing her head in exasperation. She wasn't an actor like Simon, but no one would question a friend helping a friend, right?
"Darnit." Eric said. "Really, this isn't the most proper discussion, patient-doctor privilege and all, but if Mia told you this, that's not great." He said. He mimicked Tanya's head rub.
"Right. Her mom and dad both had BPD, and really, that makes me think sometimes its an underlying problem." Tanya said as a throwaway line. "In any event, I'm worried if we make a big deal of this surgery, Mia will freak out and leave."
"I can see it. Reggy would be pissed, I already pulled enough strings for this...." Eric said wistfully. "Alright. We'll act like it's a routine visit, you keep her calm, and I'll make sure Reggy knows." Eric said with a rub of his temple.
"Understood Doctor. I'm sorry about all this. I never knew a nice boob job could be such a headache." Tanya said with a smile.
"It's quite alright." Eric had regained his composure. Tanya left the room.
She was truly a good friend to Mia. After all this blew over, Eric could help with that BPD talk. Mia needed a psychologist more than she needed a boob job....
"Oh, nurse, uhm, what is dat?" Mia Lozeno asked. She'd changed into a hospital gown, confused where her breast forms were. Eric was acting completely nonplussed at her flat chest.
What the hell was going on?
"Mia, it's just an IV. Don't worry." Eric said, taking it from the nurse, and putting it into her vein himself.
Immediately, a flood of chemicals hit Mia like a truck, and both Mia & Simon lost their bearing. Eric smiled at Mia, the drugs clearly hitting her like they were meant to; she looked much more relaxed.
"Don't worry Mia, it'll go alright, now....."
Simon Finch lost conscious after those words.
He regained it with the oddest of feelings, that of whimsical elation, giggling and happy. Simon was in a dream land. First he was on an operating table. Then a wheelchair. Then it seemed like he was in a car. All in all, he felt like he was on a cloud, and his entire body felt funny. Like it was off.
Then, he felt a mountain of blankets, and sleep.
Life became a mediation between dreamless sleep, and being so high that he could look down on a kite. Time didn't exist. For all he knew, this was a dream, and he was having one hell of a trip. Eventually, however, Simon Finch came to in the oddest way.
He realized he was staring at a TV. In Tanya's house. The soap opera on was hilarious. Like, he couldn't contain his giggles at it, and his tears when the main character had a relationship issue. While Simon was alive, he knew only the TV, for however long that was.
Then, a third actor entered the stage. Tanya. And her voice.
"Mia! You're awake!" She said, bounding over to the mass of blankets that contained the medicated Simon Finch.
Simon took it in. He was alive. Huh. Cool.
"Hi babe. What happened? I feel all funny?" Simon asked.
"Oh, hun, I'm just glad you're awake. Here, you enjoy your soaps, what would you like for dinner?" Tanya asked.
Life went that way for three days. Three days plus the two where Simon was dead to the world. Grafting an E-cup sized chest onto Mia Lozeno had been a medical miracle, all things considered, yet Simon was none the wiser. When he wasn't sitting listening to Spanish, watching a soap opera, or talking to Tanya, he was asleep. Even awake, the pain medication he was on made him question only when his next meal was, and he could barely walk, let alone feel his chest.
Until Tanya recommended Mia Lozeno grab a shower.
Simon was stable enough to make it with Tanya to the shower, and she pulled down his last blanket. He stared at the mirror.
"Oh, my breast forms are still on. Funny." Simon said with a giggle. They looked super realistic.
"Tanya, I'm so sorry I'm so silly right now. Like, I'm all funky." Simon said.
"Don't worry Simon. Now, I told you, Mia Lozeno. Not Simon Finch." Tanya said, and Mia nodded. She'd gone two days without a comment as Simon. She'd broken a streak by saying that.
Eventually, however, the great medication Mia was on faded, and she was alone in the bathroom by herself. Stretching, she felt her back pop, and she felt the full weight of the sand bags on her chest. Funny. They felt fleshy.
Annoyingly fleshy. Simon was sure Tanya wouldn't begrudge him for taking the set off for a bit. She was at work and might never know.
That's when they didn't come off. Simon began to panic. What the hell? They were glued on like nothing. No seam existed either! What the hell?
"Your breasts? They aren't forms." Tanya said to Mia Lozeno.
"Aren't forms? Wh-what are they?" Simon asked.
"Ask that like you're Mia." Tanya said. Simon hadn't seen another human in 6 days, and in his slight medical haze, he nodded. Even freaked out, Mia Lozeno shone through.
"Senorita, what are Mi Pechos? Boobies?" Mia asked.
Tanya explained the whole story. She'd prepared it over close to a week. While Mia Lozeno had sat on her ass, her mind soaking in soap operas, Spanish lessons, magazines, and whatever else Tanya served up, she'd made up a perfect story. They'd come in for a routine check-up. But the charts had been switched. By the time Eric, who had no knowledge of the switch, came in, her first boob had been made. He was unable to stop it. Mia Lozeno had been recovering for a few days while the hospital figured out the route ahead.
"Th-these are real?" Simon asked in shock. No fucking way. Tanya was kidding him. Joking. Messing with him for being lazy.
Simon hadn't questioned his sudden trip to laying in bed all day. No. It was fun as fuck. But now, after he thought about it, everything....
"Mia voice." Tanya said with a shark's smile.
"Concreto?" Mia asked without breath or a sense of authority.
"Yes, baby, but listen. We'll get it figured out. For now, they're perfect for your disguise. Amazing even. Don't worry, yo-...." Tanya's voice disappeared as Mia Lozeno passed out in shock. Her head hit the tile of the bathroom.
