Lauren gets pulled over

Lauren after the day she had was impatient to get home, so she started speeding. The drive was relaxing for her as she listened to the music over the radio when the sound was drowned out by police sirens. 'Fuck' she thinks as she pulls over to the side of the road.

When the police officer walks up to the side of her car, she pulls down the front window and strikes up conversation,

'Hi Miss, is there a problem?', she says innocently, the police officer looks at Lauren for a second before asking,

'aren't you a little young to be driving'

'... Ummm no, I'm over 18'

'Ok then, can I see some ID.'

'sure' Lauren was confused, she may not have breasts but she defiantly didn't look under 18, 'here', she hands the Officer her driving license from her wallet.

'This is clearly your older sisters license, can you please step out of the vehicle.'

'I'm sorry, why?'

'Don't worry, you're not in trouble, we just need to contact your parents for your safety; you can trust me'

Lauren was now really confused, could the officer really not tell it was the same person on the License? how was that possible. Lauren obliges with the Officer and gets out her car,

'Please come with me to my car, I'll even let you sit in the front!'

Lauren doesn't say anything out of confusion, just follows the Officer and gets into the police car.

As the Officer drives, she begins to attempt to make light conversation with Lauren, 'You know, when I was your age; I looked up to my brother, he was in the military, I admired him so much; all I wanted was to was to sit at the wheel of his car and drive around really fast like he did, but I never did, because my brother always told me it was dangerous, and I believed him. So instead I learnt how to go kart. What I'm trying to say is that there are always a safe way to do what you want.'

Lauren was even more confused, when she was her age, she thought to herself that 'the officer couldn't have been more than 3 years older than her, what is she talking about'.

'You must be shy, sorry for talking a lot; my parents hated me for it, they said I never stop talking, it drove them insane... not literally though, thats just what they said, they liked there hyperbole'

After an eon of non-stop talking, they finally pull in at the police station. The Officer gets out and opens the door for Lauren before leading her into the station.

The first room in the station is a small reception area with a brutish looking black man at the desk typing on the computer. Next to the Desk was a row of 3 chairs for people to sit and wait in; and sitting in two of the chairs were the last people Lauren ever wants to see, Vanessa and her biker boyfriend Jason, both clad in leather and soot, probably been doing some vandalism again! Especially today, Lauren didn't want to be seen by then because; 1, she has just been arrested; 2, she wasn't wearing her padded bra and spanxs.

'Now you just sit there next to that kind boy until Officer Barry is ready to see you; don't worry about anything else, I contacted him in advance so he knows your predicament.'

Oh no, Lauren is figuratively shitting herself right now, luckily they haven't appeared to have seemed to have noticed her yet, so just maybe. Lauren slowly walks over to the chair and sits down in it, sitting down next to Jason. Lauren sits there, frozen, looking straight forward, grabbing the rim of her top.

'Psss,', Jason says jokingly to Lauren, 'what are you in for?'

Lauren gives of a little 'eep' out of fear.

'Hey!' Vanessa says followed up by a quick smack to the chest,

'what was that for beanie boo, I am just making a joke.'

'can't you see the little girl is probably lost and defiantly terrified right now, you're not helping.'

Little girl! Lauren was shocked, how could her own sister mistake her for a child! Something is very odd.

'I know, I'm just trying to be helpful. Hey little girl, you don't have to be scared, I'm harmless.'

Lauren refuses to move a muscle.

'Don't be that way little one, here I think I've got something which will cheer you up', Jason then puts his hand into his pocket and retrieves a small lollipop, 'here.'

Lauren still doesn't move.

'come on, don't worry, It's safe.'

Lauren thinks for a second, she realises that if she takes the lolly then Jason may stop bothering her, so she meekly turns and grabs the lolly, trying to not make eye contact.

'...t... thank, you' she says quietly.

'See, I'm not dangerous, you can trust me, and hey, if you have any bullies at school, tell me and I'll give them a quick beat up.'

'JASON!'

'Just joking', he says pulling out another lolly and putting it in his mouth.

They sit there for a bit, with not much else to do, Lauren decides to unwrap the lolly and begin to suck on it, it was blackcurrant flavoured. They sit there for a bit longer until a gruff voice breaks the silence,

'Vanessa and Jason!'

'Yes Officer?' Jason asks with a totally different demeanour to usual.

'Just finished the paperwork, you're free to go but if you are caught doing anything else, expect court.'

'thank you Sir, have a lovely day. Hey, by little one, hope you don't get too long in prison.'

Vanessa then proceeds to quickly sucker punch him in the gut, 'sorry, I was just joking', 'well, it wasn't funny.' they continue to talk as they walk out of the station...

'Lauren'

'ummm, yes?'

the Officer scowls slightly at Lauren and then says,

'yes Officer!'

'sorry! Yes, Officer.'

'thank you.'

Lauren walks up the the desk, without her heels, it was up to her neck.

'I'm sorry, this has all been a'

'come around Lauren, I can hardly see you' the Officer then opens a latch creating a gap for Lauren to walk behind the desk, which Lauren takes advantage of.

'thank you, you see, earlier today i got pulled over for speeding, which is totally ok, but then she didn't believe me when I showed her my drivers license!'

'You talk very well for a child your age', the Officer compliments.

'And thats another thing, everyone keeps mistaking me for a child!'

'And... you're not.'

'No!'

'Lauren, I know this is an scary position to be in but lying about your age isn't going to help.'

'but I'm not lying'

the Officer gives off a sigh, 'ok then, how about we look at your record so we can see together how old you are' the Officer then picks up Lauren by the arms which makes her give off another 'eep' then places her on his lap so she can see the monitor.

'Now Lauren, what's your full name?'

Lauren obliges and quickly giving the information, knowing that it will show her true age. After quickly typing it in, Lauren's file appears and her mouth drops when she see's her birthday, 2011! The Officer then grabs Lauren again and places her back down and as he does this, Lauren notices herself in a mirror on the wall which was covered by the reception desk before. Lauren was even more shocked, her skin was pale and smooth, her hair was in pigtails, and her clothing looked like she was ready for PE; Lauren couldn't believe she really looked 11 years old.

'Now Lauren, it is very naughty to lie to a police officer, you should know this at your age, now go and sit down and I'll phone your legal guardian to pick you up, since you're 11, you won't be punished but you're guardians might receive a fine.'

Lauren went back and sat down, she couldn't believe what was happening, and how... was this something April did, was this magic, was she insane?! Now, to make things worse, now her mother is going to be contacted. She listens to the Officer type in a number into the phone, the phone was shortly picked up.

'Hello, this is Officer Barry, I am looking for the legal guardian of Lauren, can I speak to April.'

'APRIL!' Lauren thinks, 'she's not my legal guardian, why is April registered as my legal fucking guardian?!' Lauren decides thats enough confusion for one day and stops thinking about anything and just focus on her lolly.

'Hello April, this is Officer Barry I am calling you to inform you that Lauren is currently at the station, she somehow managed to get hold of a car and then proceeded to lie about her age repeatedly ... I am aware this is shocking news, but someone needs to pick her up ... also, what she did was a crime, but Lauren is currently under the age of legal responsibility so you are responsible instead ... once an investigation has been done, expect a fine sent to your home between £300-£900, do you understand ... Good.'

The Officer then puts down his phone and gets back to work on his computer.
