Chapter 141 by Daylan Daylan

Luck Still Holding?

Had To Give Out At Some Point

*BAM BAM BAM*

The banging on the door, far too loud to not be magically enhanced, causes all five of you to jolt in surprise. Mana and Artie let go of each other and the latter scrambles backwards with the guiltiest look on his face. You hear a secondary banging noise as Selena's head hits the underside of the table and she pops back up rubbing the top of her dome as you quickly stuff your cock back into your pants. Tara, who was watching the start of the second show of the night with a small grin, falls off of her coin pile and sends several pennies flying as a result.

Mana quickly gets to her feet, taking a moment to smooth out her skirt before storming towards the door with gritted teeth. You get her line of thought that someone knocking THAT intensely would not be dissuaded by shouting through the door alone, but you are still surprised by how quickly she yanks the door open to start snarling, "WHAT DO YOU-- Professor Dove?"

The name she says (as well as the way her voice almost instantly drops all the fury for respectful confusion) causes you to start a second time in surprise as you doubly make sure that your penis is safely restored to being contained by your trousers and your fly is properly closed. It is a good thing the game is already over, as having to explain what was going on might have gotten a little awkward as the teacher steps into the room, looking towards you, Selena, and Artie. She looks even more tired and disheveled than she had when you saw her at the front of the dorm, pausing to rub her temples a moment before saying, "Sorry to interrupt your study session but I'm afraid something's come up. Artie, I need you to come with me. To my office. Now."

Artie twitches, that guilty look somehow growing more so as he stands up to start gathering up his books and putting them in his bag. "I said 'now'," Dove repeats and Artie stops what he is doing, dropping the bad and slouching his way towards the door.

"We'll get your stuff back to your room," Selena says, trying to give him a supportive smile even though she is clearly worried.

"Professor, what is this about?" Mana asks, even more clearly worried.

"Some... evidence has come to light about a recent incident," the Professor replies, and you think you see her start to nod her head in your direction before she catches herself, "And the two of us need to have a SERIOUS conversation about it."

As if sensing what all three of you are thinking, Dove gives you, Selena, and Mana a pointed look as she adds, "And no, it cannot wait until morning."

You frown at just how severe this sounds. Especially if that unintentional clue Dove let slip is any indication of what it this is about. The Professor again seems to have anticipated what you might say however, as she turns right to you and says, "Parisa is back in her room, so you can leave through the front door if you'd like now. And while you still have an hour left before curfew, I'd suggest you start heading back soon."

Considering how utterly the mood has been killed, that does not sound like a bad idea.

"S-S-Sorry," Artie whispers, staring intently at his shoes instead of any of you, "Hope w-w-we get to play again... for... r-r-real sometime."

Dove leads Artie away, leaving the door open as you start to gather your things as well. Mana silently goes to flop face first on the couch, burying her face in the pillow she had been hugging earlier. "Do you guys mind?" she asks, her voice slightly muffled by the pillow but also mildly trembling, "I... I need a minute."

Selena looks towards her friend/bodyguard with a deeply sympathetic expression as she picks up Artie's bag as you pick up yours and she nods towards the door. "I'm gonna go drop this off for him real fast. For a smart guy he really forgets to lock his door a lot, so I can just plop this down on his bed."

"Alright," you reply as you signal to Tara, who stretches before standing up and flying over to land on your shoulder, "Guess I'll see you two tomorrow?"

Mana grunts once and Selena sighs but gives you a half-smile and shrug as the two of you step out into the hall. Once outside and after she closes the door, Selena suddenly darts towards you to plant a quick kiss on your lips. "Thanks for trying to help," she says, "I really thought we had him convinced this time. Promise I'll give you... what I said I would, soon."

You smile and give her a quick kiss of your own. "I can wait until you're ready," you say before frowning, "And I do hope whatever the Professor wanted isn't too serious."

Selena frowns as well. "You think the 'incident' she was talking about was what happened with Parisa?"

"Maybe," you reply, "But I guess we'll have to wait and see if either of them feel like telling us later."

Selena gives a glum nod and sighs before forcing a smile. "Well, maybe we can do one more fun thing tonight," she says, "I've seen you in my dreams, so would you mind if I dropped in on yours for a little bit?"

You mull the offer over for a few seconds. "Y'know," you finally say, "until I started dream walking, I don't really remember having that many dreams of my own. So I'm not even sure you'd find anything."

"Oh, there's always something, even if you don't normally remember it," Selena says before giving you one last smooch, "So unless you're secretly some incubus looking to corrupt me body and soul, it should be fine."

Raising an eyebrow, you comment, "Given what I saw you're into just now, should I take that as an attempt to influence what you'll find in my head?"

Selena giggles through a light blush, slightly less bashful about her kink now that it is just the two of you, and hefts Artie's bag over her shoulder as she heads down the hall towards what you presume to be his room. Giving you one last look over her shoulder, she winks and says, "I'll leave THAT for your subconscious to decide."

After taking a moment to admire her slender figure as she walks away, you walk to the entrance of Pegasus House. As you go, you hear the occasional whisper between some of the girls you pass. Some snickering about the room you just came out of, others identifying you as the one who had been with Parisa during "that incident", and it might be your ego imagining things but you are pretty sure you hear at least one or two debating if they should make a pass at you themselves.

As tempting as exploring that last subject is, you decide to save it for another time and step out into the night. It is a fairly gorgeous night too. The fall air is just cool enough to feel crisp without being too cold, the sky is almost crystal clear, only a few small wisps of cloud hovering around and illuminated by the full moon in the sky. You take a moment to admire that moon, its light bright enough to illuminate the pathway clearly but still letting the stars elsewhere in the sky to twinkle softly as well.

You feel Tara shift on your shoulder and see she is staring upwards as well, though with an even more enraptured expression than your own. Her wings lightly flex and twitch as she visibly but silently sighs, her enraptured expression slowly growing more wistful as you stop walking so she can concentrate on her stargazing. "Let me guess," you say, "You don't get to see a sky like this where you're originally from, do you?"

Tara shakes her head, once more turning her gaze wistfully to the sky. You smile softly as you tell her, "If you want to go for a flight, go for it. I'll leave the window open for you. Just don't get back too late... and don't prank anyone... and don't get eaten by a frog or an owl. That'd make me sad."

The Dragon Fairy gives you a look that is a mix of excitement and surprise, fluttering off your shoulder and flying around you a few times like a dog or cat with a case of the zoomies. She stops in mid-air in front of your face and hovers forward to give you a quick kiss on the forehead before, with everything about her radiating excitement, lifting up high into the sky and vanishing from sight.

Now alone with your thoughts, you continue your walk back to the dorm and reflect upon the evening. You feel the weight of the Invisibility Cloak in your bag and the third mini Truth Binding in your pocket, both unused. Your original plan had been to figure out some way to use the former to slip into Parisa's room and then question her with the latter to confirm if she had truly been responsible or not for her actions that day. Yet seeing her sitting on the porch, and the raw fear and despair she had shown spotting you, killed that plan instantly. Aside from being a dick move and require a lot more trickery than was probably possible for you at this point, that look had convinced you that she did not deserve it. She was suffering enough and you were pretty sure it was unjustly now.

Of course, you have nothing even remotely resembling proof that was the case but you had to handle this and everything else one issue at a time.

And speaking of other issues, you had to figure out what you were going to do with the rest of the night yourself. You could just keep walking about until curfew hit and see who or what you bumped into, just head back to Wyvern House and see if any of your friends were free (and you DID have that necklace that you think has been on long enough to return to Viki), or take a quick peak at one of the other Houses while you still had time. You have not actually been to Phoenix House yet, despite your encounters with Harmony, nor Cerberus and you have yet to really meet anyone from there. Might be interesting to see who you could encounter passing by.

Where To?
