Apologize or go on the attack?
Slight apology
You're not one of those assholes who think that apologizing means you're weak, so you tap down your frustration. "Yeah, Anna, I can't blame you for taking a chance to get free drinks. But I'm also not going to blame myself too much for rescuing Charlotte. So, rather than shouting at each other, why don't we try to figure out what to do next?"
Mara interjects herself into the conversation. "They'll have our descriptions, but we were wearing our party clothes. So, if we only go into town in pairs, maybe, and as long as we wear jeans and caps or something, they probably won't recognize us. You, on the other hand, Mike and Charlotte, you they'd recognize so you're going to be under lockdown as long as we're in Tahoe."
Locked down with five sexy women... you can imagine worse fates.
"Are you criminals or something?" Charlotte wants to know.
"More like the 'something,' Mara says."
"Maybe this Charles asshole isn't connected to Amber's church," you say. "Anyway, it's better safe than sorry so I agree to the lockdown, but we probably won't have any problems as long as we're careful. After all, it isn't like they can go door to door looking for us, right?"
On that encouraging note, the girls settle down and start discussing sleeping arrangements.
Which is fine until you realize that they're not including you.
"You sleep on the couch," Anna explains.
"But--"
"But nothing. You want to see big catfight, you sleep in middle and we all fight over who sleep next you. Not pretty, and nobody gets sleep. You sleep on couch, we all sleep, can do science tomorrow."
"Science?" Charlotte asks.
"What we here for," Anna answers. "I suppose you not great math genius."
"Charles says math and science turn us away from God," Charlotte says.
"So, not math genius. Too much to expect. Now we go to bed. Tomorrow, science with fuck."
