Chapter 11 by AnchorPillar AnchorPillar

Whose the driver?

Jess, with Shauna riding along

All things considered Jess’s car was unexpectedly humble. Just a powder blue four door sedan with normal license plates and tinted windows. On one hand you’re disappointed it’s so normal looking. On the other hand you’re terrified that it’s so normal looking. Riding in the front passenger seat was Shauna, the second person who got a chance to mess with you but you can’t remember what she did. They both grinned as you opened the rear passenger side door and got in.

“So, how are you Hana?” Jess looked no different than the last time you remember seeing her. The only thing different was she now had a few plain rings on, most were a grey metal you assume was silver but the one on her right ring finger was rose gold. Shauna had an identical rose gold ring, along with some brass or bronze bracelets.

“Waiting for shoes to drop” their catty grins breaking out into giggles

“Oh you’re gonna be waiting a while than” Shauna said as Jess pulled out into traffic. “Not even Jess has allowed herself to know what the end could be” She took a sip from a coffee you hadn’t noticed she had. “But I suppose I could give you an idea what’s happening.”

“That would be really nice,” You said, as Jess tapped something on her phone and Shauna got comfortable looking at you.

“So, long story short: magic exists now, mostly in enchanting stuff, so no throwing fireballs around for your average person. But also real now are fun twists on mythical beings. From Succubus that feed off semen to full time Jaguar people, to shapeshifting foxes you name it there’s some, mostly non-lethal, version of it now.”

“Wait...” the gears were turning in your head “so that’s the Awakening my Dad talked about? I’m turning into a Succubus?” They laughed at that

“Maybe, this is where the game comes in. We have no idea what you’re turning into only you have a year to...not. Avoid the wrong things, get treatment on time and you could easily come out of this as just a human. But every time you slip you start getting addicted to it, slip too much and say good bye humanity.”

“What happens to me than?”

“I suppose that depends...” Shauna grinned at you, a small wicked grin that left far too much to the imagination. At the same time Jess turned the engine off, you’d already arrived.

School any different?
