"You two guys want to play each other, right?" Selena asks, looking between you and Artie.
Both of you nod in response and Selena's smile grows a little more intense as she explains, "Well, I was thinking, since you're both still getting to know each other... maybe we could use this as a chance to break the ice and do that?"
You think you know where she is going with this, but try to keep an uncertain look on your face as Selena reaches into her skirt pockets and pulls out the two mini Truth Bindings, unfolding them so you and Artie can see what they are. "So how about a little bit of stakes?" she asks, "A friend said these things let you ask someone any three questions you want. Winner gets to ask the loser and one of us girls those questions."
"A 'friend', huh?" Mana asks suspiciously, raising an eyebrow... but then she shoots Artie a brief glance and says, "Oh what the heck, I'm in."
Artie's eyes widen in alarm and he looks over at you, perhaps remembering what you had said before about having a way to discern the truth of Mana's feelings for sure. "I-I-I... don't know if th-that's a good... idea," he says nervously.
"Only if there are some ground rules for what kind of questions are allowed," you state, trying to give Artie a reassuring smile, "Nothing TOO private, it has to be a subject that can ONLY be about people currently in this room, and you're allowed to ask for the circle to be broken before the third question if you feel any of the first two went too far."
Selena and Mana share a shrug as they both say, "Sounds fair to me."
Artie bites his lower lip in thought, his eyes darting between the game board, you, and the two girls. Eventually, he takes a deep breath and nods as he says, "O-O-Okay."
Once that is settled, you and Artie move to opposite ends of the table so that you have the game board properly possitioned between you. Selena and Mana flop onto the couch, getting comfortable to watch as you and the other boy pull your decks from your pockets (his cards being a surprisingly bright pink in color) and set them in holders on your respective side of the field.
"W-We usually play a... quick game," Artie explains, "T-Twenty-five cards in-instead of... fifty. A-And you can... s-s-start using more powerful monsters... after o-o-one round."
"It also lets you have enough time to play more games when you've got other people waiting?" you ask as you nod at Selena and Mana, "Though I suppose that's normally for their turn to play instead of getting to question and answer time sooner."
"Oh we may still want to... play, after that too," Selena purrs, giving you a not so covert wink.
"Anyway," you say after giving Selena a wink back, "Sounds fine by me, Artie."
Twenty-five cards vanish from your deck and you reflexively tense up as you suddenly remember when a similar massive loss of cards had happened in your duel with Harmony. However, the worse you feel is a very brief tingling in your fingertips. Obviously, the smaller scale of playing on the game board would have less of an effect than playing full sized on a battlefield... but try telling your reflexes that.
Once your initial worry passes, the miniature magic circle on the game board comes to life with a green glow and a similarly colored jewel on the top of your holder lights up. "Guess this means I go first?" you ask as you point towards the glowing jewel.
At Artie's nod, you hum thoughtfully as you draw two cards and consider your first move. Only one turn until the board powers up means you do not have much of a chance to put up preliminary defenses and you have been wanting to try out a new strategy you had been coming up with in the spare time you had to focus on what you could summon with your deck. To that end, one card in your hand vanishes and on the field a small (relatively to you but fairly large for the scale the board is displaying things at), dark hole opens on your side. "I cast Mystery Abyss..." you say before the other card you have drawn dissipates as well, "And place a creature inside of it."
The only visual indication that you have summoned a monster is a pair of indistinct, glowing red eyes that appear inside of the hole. Otherwise, you are currently the only one who knows what kind of monster you have placed in there and how Artie responds to the unknown danger should prove informative. To that end, the gem on your deck holder stops glowing and the one on Artie's lights up and he draws three cards.
"I-I summon... Magic Medic M-M-Marie," he says as two of the cards in his hands puff out of existence in a small cloud of pink smoke.
You do not know exactly what kind of creatures Artie would be summoning... but the first one that appears on his side of the field was not it. The character summoned to the board is a young woman with long blue hair, clad in something that looks like a frilly nurses' outfit (though not anywhere near as revealing as Susan's), and armed with some kind of scepter topped with a red cross.
Magic Medic Marie does a little, heroic pose before holding up her free hand and, at the same time, Artie's third card is spent. A golden first aid kit appears in front of her outstretched arm and attaches to her forearm like a small shield. "A-A-And I power... her up," he explains, "With Heal G-G-Guard!"
You stare at his summon for a few seconds before looking up at him with a small, amused smirk. He flushes a bit as he mutters, "Th-Th-The Magic Maiden... Squad... is a-a-a good... c-c-comic. A-And... a good... deck."
"He's right, you know," Selena says, "We'll let you read some issues later!"
You shrug and return your attention to the board, knowing Artie's action has triggered the effect of the monster you hid in the Abyss. Eight dark purple tentacles suddenly shoot up and out of the hole wriggling menacingly as Magic Medic Marie takes a step back in surprise and as the tendrils lash out towards her, you prepare to explain what is about to happen...
... but stop as, instead of just grabbing her like you were expecting, the tentacles become a blur of motion and Marie lets out a silent scream as her clothing is utterly ripped to tiny shreds in half a second, leaving her clad in only the Heal Guard over her forearm and a very small pair of aquamarine colored, frilled panties just barely covering what is between her legs.
At that point the tentacles do grab her but in a very lewd way. Two wrap around her torso, pinning her arms to her sides as one slips over her fairly modest breasts and the other under them. The creature has no real expression to read but it seems to be staring at Marie quite intently as it starts to fuck her much more intently. Eventually, Mana finally asks, "Selena... which bed did you get that board off of?"
"M-Mine," Selena answers, sounding like she is about ready to die of embarrassment at any second.
Mana suddenly storms off for the beds, rooting through her stuff and not seeming to find what she is looking for. She then searches Selena's bed and finds a second board that has slightly different runes on the magic circle. You suspect that means it **** the game to be more... family friendly and your suspicions are confirmed as Mana snaps, "SELENA! I know you like to borrow it when you're testing what happens with new summons but you GOTTA put it back when you're done!"
"I-I-I'm sorry!" Selena yelps, looking up at you and Artie, "I'm really sorry! This has never happened before! I didn't mean... I... that is..."
She falls silent again, your three companions each quietly stewing in their own way. Artie has yet to look up, while Mana fumes and squirms from where she stands and Selena looks about ready to melt into the couch if she could. It seems it is up to you to find some way to cut through the awkwardness and get things moving from there.
"Soooo..." you start to ask.
