Forging forward through the dark corridors, Maia finds herself at the entrance to an empty, well-lit room walled in by hundreds of mismatched doors forming makeshift walls and a ceiling. The floor was smooth stone with an assortment of various rugs adorning it in random locations.

"This... What is this place? It feels unnatural and strange, yet somehow also a bit familiar"

Maia walked into the room as a deepwood door creaked open directly across. Nothing but pure darkness beyond its frame.

A moment of terror gripped her as a long, gnarled finger wrapped itself around the door, pulling it shut once again.

Sprinting back the way she came, Maia found the hallway to be much longer and twistier than it had been just moments ago. Long minutes passed, as her pace slowed, her exhaustion and panic were not playing well together.

After nearly an hour of walking, Maia found another source of light, which she reasoned must be the staircase. Picking up her pace once again, she chased the light, eventually finding herself back inside the room of doors once again.

Maia laid on the ground of the room of doors, defeated.

"How long have I been down here? A few hours? Maybe a day or two?" Maia thought, weary and starving.

As the last of her hope faded, she felt her eyes closing, her world going dark.

"No" She said aloud "Not here, not like this."

With a temporarily renewed vigor, Maia opened the deepwood door and strode into the abyss.

After a brief moment of comprehension, Maia found herself standing in her own room.

She collapsed onto her bed with no notice the receding finger.
