Truthfully, this franchise is more of a platform games series, but we decided to put it here to consolidate franchises under a small number of parent categories, much like we're doing with hybrid Action-Adventure games.

This was Naugthy Dog's franchise for the PS2 console, after their Crash Bandicoot games for the PSX. The games revolve around the adventures of a mute young boy named Jak, who has the rare power to channel the energy source known as Eco, and Daxter, his wise-cracking, human-turned-ottsel childhood friend and sidekick. Through the course of the games, the series took a really sharp turn from the colorful and a (relatively) cheerful tone of the first game towards a more grim and gritty atmosphere in the second and third games, complete with a different setting.

Still, this franchise was one of the heavy hitters during the PS2's console, with Jak and Daxter being very recognizable characters from that console cycle.
