What's next?
Preparations and the date.
Jonny puffed back into existence as a cloud of black smoke suddenly appeared at Lisa's house. Jonny stood for a moment as he looked about in the the darkened room in which there seemed to be no one else. Jonny now had an in at the police station, or really two--his relationship with Selina was going well, and Leah was a constant servant for him whether she knew it most of the time or not. If he really needed to, he could very quickly simply jump into her body to keep a closer eye on things at the station. "Lisa?" he called out. After a few seconds, no answer came. Jonny was surprised at this. Where would she be? He walked into Lisa's bedroom--the one in which the two of them had enjoyed such an amazing night. "Lisa?" he called again. Still no answer. Jonny entered the room and flipped the light switch on. He made his way to a full-length mirror and beheld the Jack body that he had made his own vessel. "Aren't you glad I took over--you've gotten a lot more action since I jumped into you," Jonny said to his now-absent host with a smile. He concentrated briefly, and suddenly the ordinary street clothes adorning his meat suit were replaced with nice shiny black shoes, dark pants, and an elegant button-down maroon dress-shirt. Jonny looked down at himself as if contemplating his borrowed body and conjured wardrobe. "Here goes nothing," he said as he disappeared in another puff of black smoke.
Some miles away was an impressive boardwalk with all the classic trappings of the location--a beautiful ocean view and a shoreline dotted with the lights of restaurants, arcades, clothing stores, and all manner of maritime merriment. Not long before eight, black smoke filled a dressing room in one of the shore's many clothing stores as Jonny smoked into existence. He looked around in the small room in which he was alone--it was no bigger than a phone booth. He eyed his well-clad vessel one last time in the mirror before stepping out in his dress clothes and heading for the door of the store. A saleswoman eyed him strangely as he strolled by, as she had not seen him go in, and that particular store did not sell the sort of clothes he was wearing. Jonny didn't even slow to acknowledge the woman, and he walked like he owned the world into the serene evening by the ocean. He made his way through the clusters of people and came to a giant welcome sign that indicated to visitors that they had now reached the boardwalk itself. Jonny found a bench nearby and sat himself down, waiting and seeming outwardly patient while tiny butterflies fluttered about inside his belly. He watched the people walk about--couples hand-in-hand, families, young men who had come to the majestic boardwalk hoping to begin the night single but not end it that way.
After waiting on the bench for a few minutes, Jonny heard a voice behind him. "I'm looking for a hunky young man around here . . . seen one?" Jonny turned in the direction of the voice and saw a smiling Selina. She damn near knocked him over . . . she was beautiful. Selina wore a form-fitting red dress that came down only to her upper thighs, exposing her tanned and toned legs. Her gorgeous backside was also prominently featured, and the dress hugged her every luscious curve up to and including the wondrous globes hanging from her chest. She wore a necklace with a jewell nestled between her jaw-dropping breasts, and her hair was pulled back and ran down to well below her shoulders. She smiled giddily at Jonny.
"Wow . . . " Jonny said as he approached Selina, "just--um, yeah . . . wow," he stuttered, obviously nervous. The smile dropped from Selina's face. "Don't you like the dress? I mean--well--I've never worn it before but I really wanted to look pretty for you but I can change if you--" she began, distressed by Jonny's speechlessness. "No no no not at all," Jonny cut her off, taking her hand in his, "no no don't change. You look stunning," he said with a nervous smile, and she smiled back. The two peered into each other's eyes for a minute or two until Jonny broke the silence. "So . . . um, dinner?" he said. "Yeah, sure, dinner's good," she replied.
The two of them walked hand-in-hand toward a place farther down down the boardwalk in the dimming light of the evening. "Does this work?" Selina asked as the two came upon a very nice seafood restaurant. "This looks great," Jonny said as the two entered. They were seated in the restaurant's third floor--it was a roof-top dining area that was really beautiful. It was adorned with candles and very nice settings of various kinds, and the fact of being on the roof gave diners a great view of the water and of the other sights down the boardwalk. Jonny and Selina ordered, and their food came soon.
"How was your day?" Jonny said as he munched on some shrimp. Selina paused, as though not sure how to answer. "Well, it was good . . . weird. Good though," she said, "I'm afraid we're not much closer to catching whoever tried to take out the mayor. This lady came in to help us, but she only spouted nonsense. I did meet a new recruit today who busted a fugitive within hours of starting," Selina said with a smile. Jonny smirked a little, knowing that the hooker was a fake, and the "officer" was merely a vessel for Jonny's demonic essence. "Well the recruit's off to a good start," Jonny declared. Selina smiled, "Yeah, yeah she really is." "Anything else?" asked Jonny. Selina paused. "Well, and this is one of the ugly parts of my job," she began, "there was this call about this guy . . . nice guy it seemed. He was a professor who was acting weirder than usual, and me and the new woman went to calm him down and, and he . . . " she said as she visibly struggled to hold back tears. She took a break for a moment and simply looked back up at Jonny. "Well I'll just say I'm glad you're here . . . been feeling better since you came," she beamed. The two ate in peace and made small talk along the way.
"Up for a walk?" Selina asked as she took Jonny excitedly by the hand and pulled him toward the boardwalk. "As long as I've got a beautiful lady on my arm, sure," Jonny said with a smile. Selina took Jonny by the arm, and the two walked down the boardwalk in the breezy dark of the night. The waves crashed not too far off as they walked, and eventually the lights and celebratory buzzers and other sounds of the boardwalk gave way to a pleasant solitude, or at least nearly so--only a few other people were around, and most were on the way home.
"So what did you do today?" Selina asked. Jonny pondered for a moment. He had to come up with something better than admitting he'd possessed Leah and used her body to learn his way around the police station . . . that would be awkward. "Oh well I had a good time walking around and seeing the city," he said. The two walked and chatted more and soon approached an area where they were alone. A giant dock jutted out from the boardwalk and stood above the crashing waves of the ocean. The two strolled out leisurely on to the dock as the wind rustled through Selina's flowing hair. They reached the edge of the dock and and peered out upon the water. Selina peered over the wooden railing of the dock down into the water. "How far down do you suppose it is?" she asked. Jonny looked down too. "I don't know," he said, "probably no more than 20 feet or so, but it is dark," he said, somewhat surprised at the question.
Jonny felt feelings flailing about inside his barely pubescent body. His heart quickened. He became nervous. Maybe it was some tiny remnant of Jack's consciousness, or maybe Jonny himself honestly didn't know exactly how to handle this beautiful woman on his arm. Selina moved in close and put her arm around Jonny, leaning her head on his shoulder. The waves crashed as the water moved about below. "I love the water; don't you?" Selina asked. "Yeah," Jonny responded, trying to play it cool.
Suddenly, Selina made a move. Jonny felt a pressure that began under his legs as they came off the ground with Selina's arm under them. Her other arm was up by Jonny's shoulder as his whole body was lifted off the ground. Selina struggled to lift Jonny a little bit, and he may have heard a couple bones in her back crack as she lifted him. "What the hel--?" he started. Selina struggled to hold Jonny in her arms for only a couple seconds. "Eventually we'll tell our kids about this part," she said as she tossed Jonny over the side of the dock and he tumbled toward the water below.
"Aaaaaahhhhh!" Jonny yelled as he fell and suddenly entered the water, belly first, with a splash. He was plunged into a murky and dark world of tiny particles of dirk kicked up from the sea floor. He opened his eyes and could not see more than a couple feet in front of him. His feet quickly found the sea floor, though; he wasn't very deep in the water. Within a couple seconds of landing, and still submerged, Jonny detected another entry as a giant cloud of dust kicked up in front of him. Fumbling around, Jonny found the ground and stood, his upper body rising above the water.
Still in a state of shock, Jonny rubbed his eyes and slicked his messy hair back. "What the hell?!" he yelled out as a smile crept across his face, his tone a mix of irritation and infatuation. Selina stood up too, just a couple feet from Jonny. Droplets of water glistened in the night and caressed her wonderful, curvy body. She smiled broadly. "The last thing a woman like me wants to do is be predictable," she said sexily. The two looked romantically at each other. Jonny moved in slowly, his hands and arms under the water. Suddenly, he reached around behind Selina and grabbed forcefully on to her luscious, curvy ass as he pulled her close. She jumped and yelped a little, but not in a way that suggested she minded. "Same here," he said as he moved closer to her.
