Practicing Powers

After breakfast Jean showed me around the building for a while, ending at a meeting room near the girls dorms. Inside, Scott sat waiting behind a table. I sat across from him taking off my sunglasses.

"I take it those are like mine?"

"I assume so, as far as I know they could just be regular sunglasses."

"They probably are, actually. Normal sunglasses should do just fine to prevent your powers activating unintentionally."

"So how am I supposed to do this? In case you forgot, I can't exactly make eye contact with Scott."

Scott smiled, shifting his glasses so they sat lower on his nose. He tilted his head down and looked upwards, though avoiding direct eye contact.

"And the goal here is to delay activation further?" I asked next, unsure why exactly we were even there.

"Ideally, you would be able to activate them only when you choose to. That will probably take a lot of practice though, so for today we'll just work on overall control." Scott answered

"Try to visualize your power; how it feels, how it affects someone, how it works. From there, take control and hold it back. If the sensation is natural enough, you should be able to train yourself to do it unconsciously, meaning you'd have conscious control of activating your powers." Jean explained further

I nodded my understanding and closed my eyes to focus.

I know eye contact is required, both the target and I looking at each other's eyes. Sunglasses do work, so light bouncing off my eyes must be the catalyst for my power, yet only if I'm looking at a valid target. I can prevent it by not looking anyone in the eyes, or not letting others see my eyes, but what I really need to do is not affect the light itself. She said visualize, not analyse, but this has always been my strong suit; I need a good understanding to create a good analogy in my head. I guess it feels... Dull? Empty? Like a void in my eyes or something. Or energy, warm and pink. That doesn't make sense though, those are opposite feelings. Maybe there's something I'm not getting here.

"Connor, you okay?" Scott interrupted

"Shh, let him think. I think he's onto something" Jean scolded

Has she been listening the whole time? Not sure how I feel about that, kinda embarrassing. Where was I?

"Simultaneous feelings of energy and emptiness."

Right, thanks. If that emptiness is the pull that makes people get lost in my eyes, then maybe the energy is what affects the light? Creating a subliminal effect to keep looking and enhancing the natural traits of a hypnotic trance? Easier to keep under, easier to suggest, easier to bring deeper and easier to wake up? I think that void is what actually does the hypnotizing, emptying your mind in my eyes, and that energy is what makes it so different from 'real' hypnosis, tricking your subconscious to open your mind to me. And that would explain why it's more effective with longer eye contact! The light bounces off my eyes, carrying my power into the target; they maintain eye contact, losing themselves in the void; the effects of the energy build, bringing the bar to actually hypnotize them lower and lower; they can't look away, the void is too captivating; their focus, their will, and their thoughts are pulled out into me; caught in a feedback loop they can't stop, they're hypnotized!

That's why blinking or looking away doesn't end the trance, it just temporarily stops the flow of energy! I have so many ideas... First I need to stop the energy, actually, first I'm renaming it. Any ideas Jean?

"You know I'm listening?"

I figured since you chimed in earlier, and you're still quiet, plus you mentioned I have an interesting thought process...

"I would go with something less generic, but still short. Maybe more thematic or specific to the feeling?"

Okay, that's a start. Sparkle. Spiral. Wave. Hmm... Glamour? 'the glamour in my eyes..' No, not that one. 'I activate the spiral' 'light bouncing back-and-forth carries my spiral between us' 'he can't resist the spiral.' I think that's it. Okay, first I need to stop the spiral. I don't think the void will be a problem by itself, so it's just a matter of containing the spiral instead of projecting it on the light.

My strategy decided, I nodded once more, visualizing the spiral as that warm energy saturating my eyes, but below the surface.

"Alright Scott, he's ready" Jean informed

"Okay Connor, open your eyes and look into mine." Scott said

I did as instructed, maintaining my focus on containing the spiral. It felt significantly easier than blindly trying to will my powers not to work just one day prior. I maintained eye contact for about thirty seconds, feeling more and more natural as time went on. At that point, Scott spoke up

"So.. Is it working?"

"Yes, it's pretty easy actually. The longer I spend like this, the easier it gets. I might just get the hang of this 'conscious control' thing today." I answered

"That's wonderful!" Jean congratulated me, but I wasn't done just yet.

I sort of flipped what I'd been doing, trying to project the spiral forward at Scott. His eyes quickly refocused then immediately drained, emptying faster than usual. I maintained the pulse for a few moments before returning to my resting rate. Jean didn't say anything, so I got to work.

"Scott; when you wake up you will forget this trance, isn't that right?"

"Yes.."

"Aren't we friends, Scott?"

"Yes.."

"Friends stick together, right?"

"Right.."

"Good friends support each other through thick and thin, isn't that right?"

"Yes.."

"And you're a good friend, aren't you?"

"Yes.."

"You're loyal to me, your friend, isn't that right?"

"..Yes..."

"You want to protect me, right?

"Right.."

"You trust me, right?"

"Right.."

"Are you dating Jean?"

"Yes.."

"Do you love her?"

"..Yes..." Interesting, that took a second

"Don't they say that if you love something, you have to let it go?"

"They..?"

"If you really love someone, you accept they may not be happiest with you, and still wish them to be happy. Isn't that all true?"

"Yes.."

"So if you love Jean, you're willing to let her go, yes?"

"Yes.."

"Where are you going with this, Connor?"

Just opening him up to a different point of view.

"You want what's best for Jean, whether it involves you or not, isn't that right?"

"Yes.."

"You're not very sexually experienced, are you?"

"No.."

"So if Jean wanted to do something sexual, you might not be a very good partner, isn't that right?"

"Yes.."

"You want what's best for Jean, you want her to be happy, right?"

"Right.."

"So you would want her to have good sexual experiences as well, don't you?"

"Yes.."

"Even if that meant she was with someone else."

"Even..With..Someone..Else.."

"But you would want her to be with the right person, wouldn't you?"

"I..Would.."

"Someone you both know and trust, someone who cares about her, right?"

"Right.."

"It would have to be someone who would be likely to please her, like a person with sexual experience, or a big cock, or especially someone who has proven they can please her before. Isn't that right?"

"Yes.."

Almost forgot, I should test this out now

Scott raised his left hand

"You can put your hand down now, Scott."

He dropped his hand back to the table. I decided that was enough for now, and brought him up.

*Snap*

Stopping the spiral once again, I maintained eye contact for a beat before Jean spoke up.

"Well I may be free all morning, but Scott's doing some extra training with Logan during second period, and you probably want to meet some of the others, so I think we'll stop here for now."

"Right, thanks" Scott said, standing up and fixing his glasses.

"Aren't most of the students in class right now?"

"First period ends at 10:30, so only for about ten more minutes." Jean explained, squinting for a moment at Scott.

"Well I'm gonna get a few carbs in before training. See you guys." Scott said leaving

"I almost thought he wouldn't leave." Jean said with a sigh, releasing all the tension she had stored.

"That was actually really hot, y'know?" She continued "Not quite stealing me away, but planting the seeds to take me over and over."

"Oh, I know" I said leaning back, allowing her to see my sizeable bulge."And I'm only just beginning to plant my seeds."

I got up, and she tensed for a moment, before I started walking to the door. I locked it, then slowly approached Jean with a devilish smirk.
