Chapter 35 by Meaniehead

Another New Rule?

Power Plays

A sudden blast of trumpets shrieks from the speakers—high and heroic—immediately followed by the sound of a cavalry charge, hooves pounding, sabers drawn. The lights flare red and gold as if someone just declared war on politeness itself.

The screen behind Rhett explodes into a flashing banner:

⚔️ POWER PLAYS UNLOCKED

Rhett steps forward with both hands raised like a preacher welcoming judgment day.

“Well, look who made it to the fun part.”

He’s grinning like a man who just set a trap he knows someone’s about to fall into.

“Up until now, you’ve been playing with ladies and luck. But starting this week, we unlock a whole new tier of dirty tricks: Power Play cards. Because nothing says college like spending points to ruin someone else’s day.”

The audience cheers. Or groans. Possibly both.

Rhett paces across the stage as the screen shifts to show ten glowing cards, each with a swirling icon and a number beneath.

“Here’s how it works. At the start of each week, after the draw phase, you’ll each have the chance to purchase ONE Power Play card. Not two. Not a baker’s dozen. One.”

He holds up a single finger. “You can’t save them, you can’t stack them, and you can’t refund them when you regret it. Once you play it, it’s live. And yes, your points are deducted immediately—straight from your locked score.”

The cards on the screen rotate, each now showing its name and cost.

“Some cards help you. Some screw your rivals. Some... screw you back. Here’s what’s on the table each week:”

You Think It Over...
