Pollyanna becomes worried

"It's been several days, are you not worried?" Pollyanna pleaded with her sisters.

Linya stepped to the front, shook out her long, flowing blonde hair, and flashed Polly a patronizing smile. Polly could not blame Oona for disliking Linya. The fairy had an arrogant streak that was at times insufferable.

"Sister, please, you are disturbing the court with your blather. You know as well as I do that Oona is more than capable of taking care of herself. So what if she's been gone a few days?"

"What if something happened to her?" Polly asked.

"Yes, that would be dreadful," Linya's smile broadened.

Polly looked past Linya to her other sisters, looking for some support, even if it was just a look of concern. All she got were bored faces and heavy sighs.

"You all should be ashamed of yourselves," Polly turned around in a huff.

"Where are you going?" Linya asked.

"I'm retiring to my quarters for the night," Polly lied.

With that, the bookish fairy rushed down the corridor, disappearing from her sisters' sight. No one tried to stop her. In fact, Polly heard mocking giggles echoing in the distance. For the first time in her life, Polly felt ashamed of her family. How could they care so little about their dear baby sister?

Sure, Oona was of age and _could _fend for herself, but that meant little in a place like the dark wood. A place so forbidden could bring even the most experienced fairy to his or her knees.

Polly entered her quarters and immediately began packing her things. A half an hour later, she leaped from her palace window and began to make her way towards the dark wood on her monarch butterfly wings. Fear sat heavy in her heart, but her love for her sister kept her going strong.
