Pokémon Battle with a Bug Trainer!

"I am the Great Weevil and I challenge you to a Pokémon Battle!"

Look, I could do some randomization about who/what the challenger is, or I can go with what makes sense to me. It is right outside a forest full of bugs, so Bell is fighting a Bug trainer. The REAL question is how dangerous is this battle going to be? 1d6, 1-6, 1 is well below, 6 well above Bell.

1d6: [2], ok so still pretty bad. Or good in Bell's case :D. If I had rolled a 6 she was going to have to fight a Beedrill. But in this case.

Standing in front of Bell and waiving his finger at her while striking a weird pose is a weird short boy/man, someone wearing green clothes, large glasses, and with his hair in a mutton top.

Sighing in resignation, Bell starts to mentally prepare herself. "Ok, not like I have a huge choice. Go Frank!"

For his part the Trainer sends out a Spweda

Ok, well it could be a lot worse. In fact this seems pretty good. Frank should have little trouble with this.

(Init: Bell 1d6 v Weevil 1d8, 4 v 4., reroll Weevil wins Init)

Wanting to waste as little time as possible, Weevil shouts out "Harden!" (1d4, 1d8; 2, 6; success) and Bell sees the bug Pokémon sparkle as what she assumes is the move taking effect.

Not wanting to waste time, Bell gives her own command of "Acrobatics!" (+1 no held item, +2 super effective. 1d4+3, 1d6+3; 8, 3; Spewda at 2/3 wounds) and can't help but grin with satisfaction as she sees Frank collide with the Bug.

A look of panic on his face, Weevile calls out "Use Stun Spore and run away!" (1d4-1, 1d8; 5, 3; Frank is Paralyzed). For a moment, Bell is worried as she sees Frank fly into the cloud of spores, forcing the Pokémon to land on the ground. A fact that encourages the young man to laugh, "HAHA! Not so tough now are now that I've clipped your wings!"

"Ember" (1d4+2, 1d8+2; 9, 5; Spewda at 1/3 wounds)

As Frank spits out the fire attack, it connects with the bug and it cries out in a mixture of surprise, pain, and panic. The trainer's response is to cry out and stomp his foot in frustration. "Oh come on! That's not fair! AAAHHH! Use Tackle!" (1d4, 1d8; 2,2, MISS! :D)

Bell can't help herself as she watches the sight before her. Frank may be paralyzed and unable to fly, but he still manages to hope out of the way of the bug's inept attack. "Haha, I can't believe it, haha! Ok, ok, Frank, finish this with Ember." (1d4, 1d6; 5, 6, Spewda faints). Frank spits out another small ball of fire which hits the Spewda. The bug gives one last cry before collapsing onto the ground, fainted.

Weevil calls back his Pokémon, gives Bell an angry look as he declares. "You haven't seen the last of me!" before turning around and running back into Santalune Forest.

"Well, that was weird... You ok Frank?" The bird tilts its head at Bell and tries to fly up towards her. But only succeeds in hopping. "Oh yeah, you're still paralyzed, huh." She bends down and picks up the bird, cradling him in her arms. "Don't worry, you did good. Now, lets get you healed up."

As Bell walked the short distance back towards Aquacorde Town, she reflected on what happened. Sure, she won the fight easily, but it left Frank paralyzed. If she was going to have to turn around after ever single battle there was no way she was ever going to make it through Santalune Forest, let alone reach Santalune City. "I'm going to need to buy some Paralyze Heals..." But that only solved some of the problem.

Oh well, nothing she can't handle. It wasn't like Santalune Forest is infested with perverted young bug obsessed Pokémon Trainers who will swarm all over her like a horde of horny Beedrill.

Right?

(money reward: 1d6, 5; Bell earns 5 money. Gets +1 Pokémon XP for a total banked of 2. She will spend 2 points to give Frank a point of Mastery.)

Author's Notes: well, Bell seems to be at an impasse. She will have to get through Route 2, the Forest, and then Route 3 to reach the next settlement. Seems like a tough thing for a young girl to do all by herself. What ever shall she do!? :D
