Plotting

Antoine arrived at the sandwich shop downtown to meet Douglas. He was perturbed. He didn't like not knowing what was happening.

"Antoine," Douglas said, shaking his hand.

"What is it, Douglas? This about my case?" Antoine askled plainly. Douglas chuckled and shook his head.

"No, no, this is personal," Douglas replied.

"I ain't going to stop seeing your wife."

"Nor would I ask you to. I'll be direct. I want Elizabeth to divorce me. I want her to replace me with you." Antoine sat back, considering that.

"Why?"

"I want to trade places with someone who needs a leg up. You're ambitious, you want a nce life. I want to give you my life. Not literally of course. So I'm going to cheat on my wife. I'm going to destroy my marriage. You're going to be there for her when I do. She'll get a shitload of alimony and child support from me, and I'll take care of what you owe Ladonna too. I want you to make her your wife. I want you to adopt my children . You're the better man, Antoine."

Antoine stared at the white man. He'd shown Antoine how the better half lived. This was an offer Antoine couldn't refuse.
