Chapter 14 by MidbossMan MidbossMan

Which costume will you choose?

Pick the stealthy costume

There was no reason to make a fool out of yourself and call your taste in clothing into question on top of that. It was a shame Helmid was going to have to let her fantasies go unfulfilled, but you thought you would rather play it professional with a costume that didn't make you look like a dancing jester. A squire ought to have at least a little decorum.

"Oh, thank Geod. I was going to have a hard time taking you seriously tonight if you picked that glittery gold one," Belit exhaled deeply, then gave a broad grin. "Haaa, see? I know your taste! I picked this one out myself! Isn't the mask kinda cool? Like a raven! You could wear this all the time, you know? You'd look seriously badass."

You weren't sure about all that, but you did think it struck a nice balance between masking up for the night and not looking quite so ridiculous.

"Oooh but... It's such a waste!" Helmid pouted, clenching her fists together at her chest and holding up the outfit she'd picked out, as if asking you to consider it one more time. "Outlandish festivals like this one are so rare! What an opportunity to shed our usual respectable personas and stuffy clothing! A chance to show our wild sides!"

"Aaaand she admits it. She just wanted to perv on you," Belit scoffed.

"Yuck." Liens grumbled, then licked the thumb of her glove and turned another page of her book, seeming mostly uninterested in your costume choice. "Still. Glad you didn't pick that other one. Hauntingly ugly. I don't care about aesthetics. Really. But sheesh. Ew."

"Indeed. I wasn't going to say anything, but it's nearly an affront to Geod to wear something like that in his supposed service," Rosary concluded, smiling sheepishly. "I'm glad you won't have to."

"I-Is it really that bad?!" Helmid questioned, looking to Amulette for support.

"Well, I wanted our wayward man-wife to wear it primarily provided its perfectly priceless purpose as a prank," the witch cackled, giving a sharp-toothed grin. She hadn't really thought it was a good idea at all-- she'd just wanted to see you in a funny outfit.

"Bangaal?!" the paladin pleaded, turning to her final ally with tears in her eyes. "You liked it, right?"

"They have no sense of fashion! Bangaal thinks the squire should dress in all gold with his chest out all the time, yes, to make a perfect match with Bangaal!" she reasoned, nodding along. "Keep the outfit. Do not return it! Bangaal will convince Lavender Vin in time!"

With Helmid consoled, it was finally time to take up the correct outfit and go get changed. While you were changing in your tent, the B team went out to begin surveillance. Once you were properly attired, you could join the A team you'd chosen and head out for your home town of Missionaire.
