Petersen Family Stories

The curse placed on all women in the Petersen family originated in Lincoln, northern England in 1625. Around a century later, a significant proportion of the family, including Maisie's direct descendants, made the move to America, partly in an entirely failed attempt to allude the curse by putting distance between themselves and the place where it began. As of 2026, Maisie and her immediate family are based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and still dealing with the consequences of a curse that originated from a lover being spurned centuries ago and thousands of miles away.

Between then and now, across the centuries and in the UK and US as well as other parts of the world where Petersen women have found themselves residing, the curse has been triggered in countless female family members, with only a tiny proportion of those lucky enough to find a master who didn't **** their curse in some way. Some Petersen women's experiences with the curse are more **** than others, and some seem almost beyond belief.

There is also the small matter of the fate of Rosalind, the witch who originally laid the curse on the Petersen women way back when. She seems to have eventually relocated from Lincoln but nobody is sure where to, and there is no record of her ****. Back in the days when the curse was placed, it was thought that women with Rosalind's unnatural abilities could live for centuries, perhaps millennia, without even visibly ageing. For a long time there was a fear among the Petersen women that the witch was still around, just keeping a low profile, possibly in some other part of the world. However, in the modern age most dismiss this idea, despite the continuing reality of the curse, and her name is no longer even remembered.
