Chapter 3 by Mister2814 Mister2814

What's next?

Percy Jackson himself

Percy woke up in his cabin, mind reeling with what he was just told. He wants to chalk it all up to just a vivid subconscious imagination, but him being a demigod tells him that that’s not the situation. A god just spoke to him in his dream and made him “the God of ****.” He already turned down godhood once before, and now it’s just been thrust upon him, and he had no say in the matter.

But there’s a part of him that doesn’t want to believe it. So, of course, there’s only one thing for him to do: run a test. He thinks of something small but random enough to prove it. The demigod gets an idea. He frantically looks for his phone. Once he finds it, he starts implementing his experiment. “It’s only 3:45 A.M. right now. That means my mom has to be asleep. She’s going to quickly wake up, text me ‘GO BACK TO SLEEP!!!” and then go back to sleep herself.”

He looks at the unlocked phone and waits a few seconds to give her enough time to slightly wake up and text him. Within 10 seconds, he hears the chime from his phone that says he got a text. It looks at his phone and confirms that it is from his mom. He goes to his messages and confirms it’s the exact message he wanted her to send. “And that confirms it.”

Percy Jackson is a god. And not just any god, the God of ****. If he was a normal human, that thought that that’s his domain may weird him out, but, being a demigod, he knows all too well that in “mythological” stories incestuous relationships are actually quite common, so he’s not completely weirded out. Even though God DNA doesn’t exactly work like human DNA, his dad, Zeus, and Hades are all called brothers. Which means that Hera is their sister. Which means that she & her brother, Zeus, are knowingly married to each other. And that’s just one incestuous relationship that comes to mind.

A thought that Percy is aware of, but does try to push to side, is that, technically speaking, as a demigod, he is related to pretty much every other demigod, in some way. Thalia, Nico, Jason, & Hazel are obviously his cousins, even though Jason & Hazel are technically the children of Zeus and Hades’ Roman personas, Jupiter & Pluto. He’s also related to pretty much every god in some way too. He has other cousins, like Apollo, Artemis, that douchebag Ares, Athena, etc.

And if Athena is his cousin, Annabeth, his girlfriend, is the daughter of his cousin. Which makes her his first cousin once removed. And that is a thought normally he wouldn’t think of, because God DNA works differently from human DNA, which means a relationship between he & Annabeth wouldn’t be too weird. But with this new situation Percy finds himself in, he can’t help but wonder. “Specifically, my title is the God of ****. **** is specifically sexual relations between people related to each other. Obviously, I can do things that are sex related, such as that text from my mom, but that ‘god’ made it seem like I’m really supposed to use for sex stuff. The question remains, ‘Will my girlfriend, who is technically my first cousin once removed, be affected by this newfound power?’ And for me to know, again, I will have to run a test.”

He looks out the cabin window and looks right at the Athena cabin. He knows that if Annabeth just woke up and walked to his cabin in the middle of the night, it could cause some trouble. So, Percy carefully thinks about what he wants to happen. “Annabeth is going to wake up, but no one else from the Athena cabin will wake up. They will all stay sound asleep as Annabeth walks over to my cabin. She will knock on my door and completely forget why she came over as soon as I open the door.”

There’s a part of him that doesn’t want this to work. Partly because, all the shit they always say about them, “Not technically being related,” is good enough to escape this new power of his. If it can affect her, then they are related enough, which is just something he never thought he’d have to think about. But, there’s another part of him that secretly does want it to work. After all, he’s already in a relationship with her. He’s not going to break up with her. He loves her, even if she is his cousin’s daughter. And, of course, that part of him is somewhat motivated by that hormonal 18 year old part of himself. The idea that he can have his “Wise Girl” do anything he wants is, at least somewhat, appealing.

Whether or not his new power would affect her, and by extension every other demigod, is answered when he spots her exit the Athena cabin and heads straight to his cabin in her PJs, which consists of shorts and an orange Camp Half-Blood shirt. She remembered to put on her slippers, which is a good thing. He’d hate to have her step on something and hurt herself for the sake of his experiment. She soon gets to his door and lightly knocks.

He quickly heads over and opens the door. “Hey, Annabeth. What’s up?” he asks. She looks confused, one may say lost, as she looks around. “I … I forgot why I came here for. I forgot why I’m even up this early.” As he sees her try to put pieces together, Percy is left with a decision to make: does he give in to these new powers and use them on his girlfriend/cousin once removed, which is still a weird way to think about her, or does he fight the temptation? Because he feels he will inevitably give in, but it’s just a matter if he gives in now.

Does he give in?
