Chapter 2 by TheFakeGuyOnReddit TheFakeGuyOnReddit

What's next?

One Saturday Afternoon

Mark just had his lunch and was lazing around in his room, with no plans for the rest of the day. He was recently laid off from his job, company takeover and all. All things considered, he came out of it fine enough, with a severance pay that could last him another three months still. Now, make no mistake, he still had to find another job, but he had lots of time still and he wasn't going to waste a Saturday on the stressful stuff. He also had stuff to accomplish this weekend, go for a haircut, grab some groceries and most importantly, chill out. His past few days haven't been that good, to say the least. Saturdays are for chilling anyhow, but how exactly is Mark going to chill?

Maybe he could take his dog, Max for a walk? He was sure Max would be excited, given that he was excited for everything, but Mark wasn't sure if he himself would be interested though. Given the circumstances however, this was the only way for him to live through the afternoon.

As he was contemplating the idea and slowly dozing off to sleep as The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City played in the background, Mark was caught off guard by the sudden buzzing of his phone on the table. A look at the screen displaying the name Jim was enough to make him audibly groan which made Max perk up and look at him just for a moment before laying down again.

The phone kept buzzing while Mark contemplated on his choices of picking up the call or rather dozing off again, before eventually settling on the former.

"YO!," shouted the man from the other end.

"Hey," replied Mark.

"Quick question mate, remember Sarah?"

"Sarah...?"

"Sarah Newport, the chick from high school."

"Kinda? Yeah, what happened?," Mark asked, trying not to let the curiosity in his voice be heard over the phone.

"Apparently she stared dating Liam," Jim smirked. "Thing's been going on for a week now and he hasn't told a word of it to us."

"WOW!," gasped Mark. This was unexpected, with Mark not really sure what to make of the information he had just been bombarded with. He wished he could return back to 2 minutes earlier and didn't lift the call.

"Yeah, shocking right?," Jim continued. "Well, I convinced him to come down to McKenzie's today and spill the beans. Can you be there by 7?"

"Uhh, can't I skip it for today? Not really feeling that good right now."

"No can do mate, just come down for a few hours," Jim replied as he then proceeded to abruptly end the call.

This was bad, Mark wasn't really sure why this happened, he never thought Sarah would be back here, and worst of all, he could've never imagined she would get together with Liam of all people. Well, how he wished he never picked up the call. He looked up at the clock over his television. The hour hand just touched 3. He had time, and McKenzie's was a half hour drive from his place.

Should he go or should he not?

Should he go or should he not?

Should he go or should he not?

Eventually Mark just settled on going on a walk with Max.

The Rest of the Afternoon
