On a case (part 3)

"Does Jules know we are here?" asked Gus, as they approached the house.

"Dude, when have we ever told anyone where we were going in advance?"

"My point exactly. You are lying to your girlfriend Shawn?"

"Gus, don't be the berry in the blacker the berry the sweeter the juice."

"Please, I would definitely be the juice."

"You would **** your wife?"

"Everybody knows he was framed Shawn."

"No, I'm pretty sure every knows that he was guilty. Anyways, Jules wants some distance. That its why she sent me, us, to investigate. She wants it wrapped up as quickly as possible."

They knock on the door and when it opens they are greeted with the sight of a woman in a towel. Gus looked her up and down swiping his thumb on his nose.

"I'm sorry, I just got out of the shower. Can I help you?"

"Yes, I am Shawn Fencer, because I am a world renown fencer. And this my associate, the Juice."

"You murdered your wife?" The girl responded.

Gus only responded with a little clicking sound with his tongue, indicating his discontent.

"We are here about the woman who was murdered."

"We don't know anything about that."

"Yes, but it is pretty convenient that a nudist sorority is so close to where the body was found. That is why you answered the door in a towel. You have been having problems with the police about answering the door nude."

"Wow, how did you know that?"

"Because I am a psychic." And because her hair was dry, despite her claiming that she just got out of the shower.

"Yeah, well I think the 'spirits' have sent you on a wild goose chase. We don't know anything about the girl." And with that the towel clad woman slammed the door in their faces. But they could see through the cloudy glass that she removed the towel and walked back with it hanging over her arm.

"Well, we tried." Shawn said as he retuned to the car.

"That's it, we're done? She indefinitely hiding something."

"Yes, but she was telling the truth about not knowing anything about the woman who was murdered. That means we are back to square one."

"So what now?"

"We need an outside opinion."

On the other side of town, the blueberry can be seen parked outside the old Spencer house.

"You go in, I'll wait here." Gus said.

As Shawn dreaded, walking up those porch steps, he was surprised to be greeted by his father opening the door.

"Shawn! What brings you here? Where's Gus? Tell him to come in. What can I help you with?"

"Okay what is happening here?" He had never seen his father this chipper, especially not when he was speaking to him.

"What, can't a father be happy when his favorite son comes to visit?"

"First of all, I am your only son, and you hate me. I am actually here on a case."

"Good, what can I help you with."

"Alright, what is this? Why are you so happy?"

"Well, I looked back through some old photos and I realized that I wasn't as involved in your life as I could have been. But I am here now. So what is this case you want my help with?"

"Oh god. Are you dying? Is that what this is?"

"Shawn I am not dying. I just decided I wanted to..." But he could see it on his son's face. It was the face they both made when they realized something. Shawn had figured it out.

"Blood pressure, that is what this is about?"

"Yes Shawn, my doctor warned me about my blood pressure. He warned me not to get to worked up over little things."

"I knew you weren't happy to see me."

"Congratulations, you are right. Do you still want my advice on this case or not?"

"Yes."

"Lay it on me. I need a distraction."

"So we've got this woman. She was found naked by the police. No one knowns what happened to her, but everyone has their own idea. They are all talking about her and staring at her long after she has been covered up."

"Are we talking about the case from a week ago? I read about that in the papers. It looks like a routine suicide to me."

"There was nothing ritual about it. I mean sure the circumstances were the same, but this one has some serious consequences. And this guy is responsible for her being so embarrassed. I mean what do I do?"

"Are we still talking about the same case?"

Outside, Shawn returns to Gus.

"What did he say?"

"Nothing."

"He didn't have anything to say about the case?"

"I didn't tell him about he case. I just kept thinking about Jules. Every time I try to talk about a naked woman, I keep thinking of her."

"You need to figure this out. It is interfering with your ability to think."

"Yeah, I know. I just hope Jules is taking this okay. I hope she hasn't had some kind of breakdown."

"Juliet is a trained detective, I think she can manage."

"Maybe you're right."

Meanwhile, at the police station. Juliet walks to the Chief's office again. They were definitely looking at her now. She was sure of it. When she walked in Karen was looking down at her work. She didn't even look up to see who entered.

"Anything I can help you with O'Hara."

"How did you know it was me?"

"You are wearing heels."

She looked down. Vick was right, she was wearing heels. They made a different sound than everyone's shoes.

"I would like to investigate the case that has gotten everyone excited."

"The 'streaker case'."

"That is correct."

"Juliet are you sure you are in the best state of mind for something like this?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"

Chief Karen Vick looked up to see Detective Juliet O'Hara standing completely nude, her hair in a bun, clad in nothing but a pair of black high-heeled shoes, in the middle of her office, in the middle of a police station, the walls of which we're actually clear glass windows and the blinds of which we're up. Everyone on the **** had a very good view of her. Even the criminal that was being booked and hauled into custody in handcuffs could see her, as the cops who were bringing him in were staring at her too.
