Chapter 4 by nitchgut nitchgut

What does Ciri tell them?

Nothing. They are interrupted.

Before Ciri could answer the door swung open with a bang. Cold air flooded the room immediately sending a chill down Ciri's spine. A man bundled in furs strode in before slamming the door shut. He dropped a sack to the floor with a thud. As he tried to warm up, the bundled man looked at his two companions before looking at Ciri.

"She's awake," He stated plainly. Ciri surmised that this must be Bjorn.

"You find it?" Asger asked. Bjorn nodded. "Good," Asger replied, seemingly pleased.

The small cabin suddenly felt a lot smaller to Ciri and she began to sit up, only to stop as Erik leaned over and placed a rough hand on her uninjured shoulder.

"You need to rest," He whispered.

Ciri glared back at him and rolled her shoulder so his hand slipped off.

"So," Asger asked again, more harshly now. "Why are you here?"

Ciri's eyes narrowed. "I appreciate you pulling me from the waters but it's no concern of yours," She said, her tone matching the chill outside.

Asger stared intensely at her for a moment, sizing her up.

"No merchant ships sail here, so you ain't a merchant or a pirate," He said, working it through. "You ain't no fishermen, you ain't dressed for hunting and there's no whore houses to spread your legs at for a hundred miles... and then, of course, you have this.

Asger reached behind him and pulled Ciri's sword from off the table. Even after all it had been through it still shone brightly in the firelight.

"Have never seen a blade quite like this," Asger said to himself.

"It was a gift," Ciri said. She went to stand, only to be grabbed again by Erik.

"Don't," he warned harshly. Ciri’s eyes narrowed, if they wanted a fight she would give one to them.

Does Ciri fight?
