Notes on: "Diana recovers... and learns the position she has been put in"

Okay, I admit it. "The position she has been put in" is meant to be a pun here -- she's learning her situation but also learning that she's been trussed up in a standard rope bondage position.

I changed one bit of topical humor when I reposted this story from AFF to CHYOA -- the danger of topical humor is that the topic may change when you're not looking. The joke was never meant to have anything meaty behind it other than to reference a rich guy who'd be a ridiculous secret identity for Green Arrow, and to underscore the average person seeing Bruce Wayne the same way.

A lot of the interpretations of Diana focus on her warrior aspect, I think in part because current comics writers are afraid to let her be compassionate. (Injustice: Gods Among Us did her no favors here -- everyone in that series who follows Superman off the rails has a reason except for Diana, who just goes from zero to psychopath in one step. And I love that series so not meaning to hate, here.) To me, Diana's power comes from her depth -- she is always compassionate. She is always loving.

And? She is always ready to cut off your feet and feed them to you if that's what has to happen. No hesitation. No sadism. That side of Diana is more than happy to make it clear she was ready to break every bone in Tom's body right that second and the lariat wasn't exactly going to slow her down.

"You apparently saved my life. Why would you think you had to compel me to have sex with you?" And there's the other side of Diana again. She doesn't scoff at the idea of sex with Tom. She doesn't cut him down to size. She legitimately asks the question: "You just saved my life. If you want sex, why do you think you'll need to coerce me? Do you think I'm that ungrateful?" Because clearly that would be on the table for her -- out of honor? Maybe. Out of gratitude? Maybe.

Because he tied her up like an expert?

...well, I'd hate to put words in her mouth.
