Hawk and Valerie ran from the cell, a limp Iris on Hawk's shoulder. They reached the elevator shaft when they heard an alarm go off.
"Shit, those guys must have woken up.", said Hawk. "We don't have much time." He gestured to her, indicating she should climb down the shaft. To his surprise, she didn't move - instead, beginning to take off her gloves and socks.
"Valerie, what are you doing?"
"There's too many floors. There is no chance we'll escape without being caught.", she said, resignation in her voice. He looked at her, frustrated, but didn't say anything. He knew she was right.
She handed him her gloves and socks. "Go, save Iris. I'll buy you time."
His expression turned into one of shock. "No way. You saw what they do to people in there."
"I'll take her place. They'll find the confused, naked woman who wandered out of her cell after being fucked. The alarm will stop, and you can escape with Iris."
"I can't possibly agree to this."
She smiled. At that moment, he had thrown aside his usual teasing and trickery to show genuine concern for her. A tear ran down her cheek as she said, "Goodbye, Hawk."
He took a step towards her, giving her a light kiss on her lips.
"I'll come back for you. Promise.", he said, as he descended down the elevator shaft.
