Chapter 5 by Ripjaws2000 Ripjaws2000

It decides to...

Not Infect the Sleeping Sangheili

(Currently WIP beyond this point as I rewrite lots of the story)

Despite the nearly perfect opportunity the infection form decides to not infect the female sangheili. While the area she is in is clear, there is always the chance a patrol or someone else can walk in and notice the infection form no matter how slim it is and infecting someone in a busy hanger such as this might not be the best idea. Instead, the infection form leaves the sangheili alone and exits the maze of containers and supplies. From there it continues to move across the hangar, slightly regretful that it didn’t use the chance to infect an easy and very useful host like her despite the risks. As the infection form continued on it continued to take note of patrols and where what was. Despite the hanger being fairly large though it did not see anything else if much interest. Just a few sleeping Unggoy (grunts) here and there, but those aren’t as important or useful as sangheili or humans are as hosts.

Eventually it reaches the end of the hangar, sees a vent low enough to slip in easily without attracting too much attention. It slides on in and right off the bat notices 2 different paths, one right and one straight across. Whichever path it goes on will lead it somewhere, hopefully an officer’s quarters with an occupied or sleeping officer or an infirmary filled with easy to infect hosts. Either way it will have to choose one of these paths if it wants to progress through High Charity and begin the infestation.

Is the risk worth it?
