Chapter 6 by Ripjaws2000 Ripjaws2000

Is the risk worth it?

Goes to the Right

The infection from heads down the right of the vent’s intersection and begins to scuttle down the path. The vent was a long and dark tunnel of extremely dark shades of grey. There were different vent coverings sporadically placed on the sides with only a single covering at the very end of the ventilation shaft. The infection form moved down the pathway and took note of where these vents led to. A few half way down the shaft led to what seemed to be storage rooms with what seemed to be a mix of plasma storage containers and food crates clumsy laid on top of eachother or placed in the middle of the room. Whoever decided to put those 2 very different things in the same room and throw them around like that didn't really have a good sense of separation and organization. No one was in the room at the moment but a viable host could come in and not expect the infection form there. A bit further down the vents and there was what looked like the entrance to somd kind of indoor garden area. A few scattered small groups of sangheili and other species here and there but overall not many when compared to the seemingly expansive space of the green space. Finally, at the very end of the long way ventilation shaft was a cover that led to a room.

The room itself was fairly sized, with a bed rather large for a single occupant, a desk with holopads andvarious other miscellaneous objects strewn across it, a small plant in an even smaller white porcelain pot, and a few other things such as an armor stand and some anti-gravity weapon holders across from a closet of primarily black hexagonal patterned techsuits that look big enough for a sangheili. A large sangheili at that.

Considering how the other two options of going to those other areas are either time consuming or more risky than this room, the infection form decides to hide in the closet till someone walks in. It removes the vent covering and places it back into its original position before crawling over to the closet and taking refuge in one of the corners above the rack of tech suits and ornate clothing. From this view it can see a few more details around the room, such as a human looking rifle hanging on the wall right above an ODST helmet on a table and an energy sword on the right of the human gear. Not a few minutes pass by and the sliding door to the room opens up. The infection form peeks out to see who entered the room and discovers a rather tall sangheili honor guard has entered the room. This is just as good as the pilot in the hangar in terms of host value, as the honor guard has information on guard shifts and rotations all around the station (or at the very least on this part of the station) and lots of other useful bits like more combat skill, etc. The benefits are also drawbacks though. Since the honor guards have higher combat skill , awareness, and experience than the standard sangheili, it means that if the infection form is not careful it can be killed in an instant. On top of that this sangheili looks stronger than the others for one reason or another.

As it plans on how to infect the honor guard, who is now in the middle of the room with its red/ orange energy combat harness and ceremonial energy stave, with the least amount of struggle and the least amount of attention drawn to it as possible, the honor guard begins to…

What does the honor gaurd start doing?
