Chapter 5 by AnthroLover AnthroLover

How does Korack reacts to the "map"?

Normally, I guess?

"This map is blank." Korack said simply, looking at the old goat. The caprine looked at the map, and then back at the boar.

"Yes, it is." The goat said simply, and Korack couldn't help but stare at him.

"And, do you expect me to pain seventeen coins for a blank map?"

"Yes." Was the goat's simple answer. Korack continued to stare at him.

"Okay, I'm not sure if you are trying to prank me or rip me off, or if you're senile." Korack said, "But there is no way that I'm paying so much for a useless pieace of paper."

"Useless?" The goat said, nearly sounding offended. "Sir, I assure you this map is anything but useless! It will definitelly be invaluable for your travels."

"How?" Korack asked, "How is a blank piece of paper gonna help me? You keep saying it is a map, but it has nothing there!"

The boar was starting to get fed up with the goat. He was ready to turn around and leave in the case the goat would continue with this. The goat, on his end, only smiled wryly at the boar.

"Yes... It is blank now." He said, and Korack only looked at him with a raised eyebrow. The goat turned his attention to the paper, holding it with both hands and saying:

"Show me the Desert of Sinking Sands." He commanded, and for a moment, nothing happened. Korack started to think the goat was really senile. However, he then saw the symbol on the bottom right of the map glow, and then, glowing lines appeared all over he scroll, until they formed a complete map of what seemd to be a desert, completed with some writting in it describbing some aspects of the land and even landmarks, as well as some of the dangers that could be find on the place.

"The heck?" Was all Korack could say, and then he heard Fif's voice inside his head:

"The map is enchanted, my lord."

Well, duh! That much Korack could have noticed even if the spirit had said nothing. He only looked at amazement at the the previosuly empty scroll, which now showed a detailed imagery of the area where Korack intended to go. Then, he turned his eyes to the clerk, who now smirked at him.

"So... this map shows you any place you want?" Korack asked.

"If it exists on the Third Earth, than this map will show it."

Korack nodded, and looked back at the map, which showed a very general view of the desert.

"Can it be more detailed?" Korack asked, "Or show a specific area of the desert?"

"Sure, if you want." The clerk said, explaining to Korack how the map worked, and how it would answer to the commands of whoever held it. The map could show specific parts of great areas, as well as be more or less detailed accroding to what the holder ordered. It could even show the position of the very map and show how far or close they were of their goal. It could even show the details of the inside of any construction, if this was what the holder commanded.

"It wouldn't show the people on the area and reveal their names, would it?" Korack asked, remembering of another magical map from a certain fantasy franchise. The goat shook his head.

"I'm afraid the map's magic is not that powerful, sir. Still, it will certainly serve to your goals very well." The goat said, "And you are in luck too! It is the last one I have in storage, and I'm giving it to you for only seventeen coins. So, what do you say?"

What Korack does next?
