Chapter 3
by Verdant_Hatchling
Do the guards get there?
Nope.
Damon quickly used his Greater Portal Manipulation to connect every doorway the guards entered directly into the sky, over a hundred feet high. As high as he had flown earlier, and as far as he could currently see up with his eyes closed. Tens of guards were doomed to plummet to their deaths, as they foolishly entered the portal they could not see.
The offender before him was confused as to why his guards would not come, and even more so, as he heard the distant screams of said guards falling a hundred feet down, to their own grisly deaths. He then looked at Damon with a fearful look. “I don’t know who you are, but I am the honorable Duke Bronstein, I will have countless riches brought to you in this instant if you forget what you have seen here, young traveler.” He was profusely sweating, waiting for his guards to arrive.
“You, honorable?” Damon scoffed as he began to cackle.
The duke then shouted, “I will not be insulted in my own home. Accept or die.” He roughly declared, clumsily drawing an ornate sword from the sheath around his rotund waist.
Damon was baffled, casting Greater Disintegration on the blade. And immediately the glistening steel of the sword was gone, replaced fully with dust which then scattered in the wind. The duke was left astonished, and began his begging, “Please, I’ll give you whatever you want, please don't kill me, I apologize for having offended this great mage.” He attempted to lure him into comfort with his honeyed words.
“I want everything you have, including your life.” Damon smiled darkly as he cast the spell a second time, a relatively short and painless process, far more painless than he deserved to go through. Soon he was nothing but dust as well, joining his sword on the ground.
Damon’s intentions were clear, as he accepted two more Greater Skill Draws, hoping the previously egregiously kind God would continue that streak.
And, of course, the God was kind. Damon carefully walked up to the bunny eared girl, who withdrew in fear. Damon realized he was shirtless, and had also just disintegrated a man. He then accepted one of his legendary Armor Draws.
And then a near infinite cape-like form expanded from around his neck, clasping itself tightly. As he reached for the slightly uncomfortable clasp, it loosened moderately. He suddenly realized he had a similar sensation to when the wings were out. He fluttered the Heroic Cloak in the windless room, resembling Spawn’s, Damon realized. He had the cloak cover his body, as he gently reached towards the girl, who quickly grabbed his hand, running into his arms and collapsing in a heap of tears.
Damon quickly cast Greater Disintegration, breaking the collar of the bunny girl, then he proceeded to disintegrate every cell door and all shackles which held them down, then he took care of the collars of the rest.
He cast Greater Restoration on every person, which shocked them greatly. Such high level magics were being used so wastefully for them, many began to cry from gratitude.
Damon was almost drained of mana. Even his large pool wasn’t enough to keep up with the constant expenditure, his regeneration was helping greatly, but it still wasn’t enough. So he quickly beseeched upwards, and accepted one of the legendary Title draws.
He was amazed at the names, but when saw the effects, he was even more gobsmacked.
His body immediately seized, gaining over twenty pounds of muscle in an instant. The crowd around him was worried, attempting to come to his aid, but he assured them he was fine. He could feel the sheer strength within his grasp.
He promptly returned to his previous mission of aiding these lost souls. Casting Create Greater Construct, a variety of large, walking basins pulled themselves from the walls into shape. He instructed them, then instructed the newly free people, “Follow these constructs to the treasury of this estate. Fill the basins with every thing that will fit. Twenty percent of everything found will be returned to you, so there will be no need for you to pay me for my services. Now go.” The golems began their surprisingly quick movement, as the people began their assigned tasks wholeheartedly.
Damon motioned for the bunny girl, whose name he learned to be Elyra Lalabune, to stay behind. He then decided what to do, casting Bestow Greater Blessing upon her. He chose Construct Commander to give to her, as he created countless constructs in the forms of great beasts ranging from Dire Wolves to Dragons. “I, Damon Steel, give command of these monsters to you, Elyra, I trust you to lead them well in restructuring this shithole of a city.”
The large quantity of eternal constructs bowed toward her, leaving her in awe, she quickly accepted, “I humbly accept, and on behalf of the Harengon, I will wholeheartedly work to better this city!” She nearly passed out from exertion.
“I believe you, Elyra, so I shall leave this to your, now, capable hands.” He began to walk towards one of the many holes in the ceiling, casting countless spells, creating tens of constructs from what he could see, and then more and more, as he began to use his Partial Omniscience to animate various monstrosities around the estate to handle the few guards that were left, much bloodshed was to occur.
“But wait, does that mean you’re leaving? But won’t they go away if, but?” She was searching for excuses on why he couldn’t leave, but was shooshed before she could express them.
“I have now given you hundreds of constructs to command, I trust you to lead them well, but they are mine. Of course I will return to claim them one day, and maybe you as well, dear Elyra. But for now, they, as well as this castle and the gold within, are yours. Goodbye.” He stated simply, as she began to tear up, from what he couldn’t tell.
He abruptly cast Draconic Wings, a suddenly colossal set of leathery wings donning his form, the Cloak of Monstrous Heroism parting to accommodate their growth. "Their bigger than before.” He observed, before a swift flapping took him hundreds of feet above where he was before, leaving a crying Harengon, who vowed to become worthy of being claimed by such an entity, with hope apparent in her eyes.
Damen flew toward the royal castle, creating constructs from every nobles home he saw, using a total of 300,000 MP, as he had every member of nobility or royalty he could sense evil from, be besieged by tens of thousands of monsters and monstrosities, killing the one who would torment the weak and helpless while abusing their powers. He freed thousands of prisoners from their cells, creating more, particularly titanic, constructs to bus them to the honorable Duke Bronstein’s manor, the new home of this kingdom’s rebellion. Solely funded by Damon Steel.
