Chapter 3 by Jnightshade Jnightshade

Have things changed?

Nope

As you pull back on the final rep of the rowing machine, you consider how little your life has changed.

Something like a billion people up and vanished. There are literal demons in the street, and you are still overweight and failing math.

You sigh as you wipe yourself down with a towel, trying not to look in the many mirrors.

You head to the locker and quickly change.

You step outside, ready to grab a salad before class. You nearly run into a model thin, gorgeous, blonde. She and two friends are hovering over a fallen girl.

The girl on the ground has long, tangled, brown hair and black rimmed glasses.

One of the girls gives her a little kick.

The blonde grins. “Get up you little loser. Just tell me you want your book back and you can have it.”

You may have only lost five pounds, but two months of working out has made you a lot stronger.

You glare at the blonde. “Give her back her book and let her up.”

The blonde looks at you with a shocked expression.

“What have we here? Is miss piggy here to protect you?”

The other two girls stick a finger on their noses flattening them. They make some rather unflattering oinking noises.

“Just let her go.”

“Fine, piggy, but you haven’t heard the last of it.”

The blond turns and walks away. Her two wafer thin friends follow in her footsteps.

You extend a hand. “You ok?”

In a whisper the girl responds. “Thank you, but you shouldn’t have.”

“What’s your name?”

“I’m Mel, I’ve got to go .”

She picks up her book and scampers away.

You head right to math.

How’s math?
