Chapter 12

Did I continue watching them?

No

As fascinating at it was, wrestling was not really my sport so I soon decided to do something else. Perhaps the inn would be more interesting, I thought.

On the way there, I ran into Korant.

“Evening, Korant,” I murmured.
“My prince, would you join us at the inn? The dwarves were asking about you.”
“Were they? Most intriguing!”
“Yes, they did. I believe it was... Baelog if I remember correctly. He insisted on it.”
“Ah, him... erm... okay. I was feeling peckish anyway!”

Korant’s response came as a silent nod.

Soon, we were inside the inn where the dwarves had already made themselves at home. Booze, bacon and bold laughter was what they fancied and they had it there.

“Oi, laddie! Come ‘ere, join us! Plenty of ale to go around, aye!”, Baelog shouted as he saw us enter.

Finally! Something entertaining to do, I thought, as I joined the table. The ale really did bring out some of the best in the dwarves and, well, some of the worst. Korant, always watchful, stood sentinel by my side. In his armored stature, he embodied a reassuring presence in this foreign land. Yet, as we raised our tankards in unison, I felt it would be only proper to invite him to join us.
