You raise your shield-arm just in time to catch the scythe as it's brought down towards you, and you're also just barely strong enough to push back the monster's strike. You shove it off harmlessly to the side of you, unscathed but also with the creature not having slowed down at all.

This thing is so much stronger than you'd have guessed from its lean physique! And it's still just as rapid as it was before, because it's about to go in for another hit against you just moments after you deflected the first. Geez, this guy just won't give up! At least you have a bit more time to react, this time around.
