Chapter 10

What does Lauren choose?

No Time to decide...

Lauren knew that it would be embarrassing, but she decided to –

Lauren shrieked in pain as she felt something sharp stick into her rear end. She looked behind her to see a dart with red fuzz sticking out of her left butt cheek. Looking up, Lauren saw the keeper from before lower her rifle and reach for her radio speaking into it.

“This is Wendy,” the keeper said into her radio, “I just tagged Coco, over! Repeat, I have just tagged Coco!”

Lauren was confused. Who was Coco? Lauren went to ask this the best she could, when suddenly she started to feel a little woozy. With a stupid looking grin on her face, Lauren fell forward; knocked out cold.

“Do you want me to return her to the monkey house?” Wendy asked. A few seconds later, she said, “Oh, they just finished building it, huh? Well, no chance of her escaping this time! And the other two will be joining her in a week.”

--

Lauren’s eyes began to slowly blink open. Groaning, Lauren sat up to find herself in an open, grassy field. Looking around she saw tall climbing structures, a waterfall, a moat, a small pond, and a security camera looking at her.

Lauren yelped as she jumped back, only to hear some laughing from behind her. Lauren looked over her shoulder to see a group of tourists looking through a glass window at her. Lauren shrieked as she crawled behind a bush, out of sight. Those people saw her.

Suddenly, it clicked with Lauren. This Coco that the keeper was looking for must have been some kind of ape…an ape that they mistook her for! She blushed from behind the faux fur that was stuck to her.

That’s it! The fur! All she had to do was wash the fur off in that pond or the waterfall and she could get out of this mess!

Lauren attempted to get up to make a run for it, but stopped. If she got up now, then the people would see her! They would get suspicious of an ape running around on two legs. And she didn’t even want to take into consideration what would happen if the guests saw the fur wash off!

She could wait until the zoo closed, pretending to be an ape until the guests went home and she could get help from a keeper; but who knew how long that would take?!

She didn’t like either option, but she needed to choose one. Take a risk at people seeing her? Or pretend to be an ape until closing?

What does Lauren pick?
