Chapter 103

No Cooldown
When Ava had told Roy that she knew what she was doing, she hadn't been kidding.
His decision to go through with this, to let Ava go down on him despite his misgivings about her age, had been calculated. Clinical, even. Without them becoming intimate, the entirety of her adult life would be defined by his needs, rather than her own.
But as her lips wrapped around his erection, her head bobbing up and down, her hand massaging his testicles, all of Roy's moral stances fled his conscious mind. He was nothing more than a man in a car, getting head from an expert. He was chasing release, and nothing else mattered. Not his own ethical stances, nor whatever concern he had carried for Ava. The only thing that mattered was what was happening between his legs.
And it was happening fast.
Sure, until the past few days, Roy's sex life had been non-existent. But with all the practice his girlfriends had been giving him, he was sure that he'd have a long, slow blowjob ahead of him. Instead, what he got was a woman, just barely eighteen, who had no right to being this good at making him feel this good.
And she made him feel exceptionally good. The way her lips felt against his tip. The way her tongue never seemed to stop moving. The quiet humming vibrations she made without even realizing it.
With Ava on the job, Roy didn't last long at all. Soon he was making a guttural sound, one he only made just before he came.
And came he did.
Ava took it all in her mouth. She never took her eyes off of him, locked in a stare that told him she would do this every day for the rest of his. Blowjobs for breakfast. Blowjobs for dinner. Blowjobs better than any blowjobs he'd experienced in his short, but full new sex life.
Roy's head rested against the seat as he stared through the windshield. For a few moments, thought itself seemed optional. The evening air outside. The quiet neighbourhood. The distant bark of a dog somewhere down the street. Everything felt pleasantly far away. Everything but the girl who was licking his penis clean.
His entire life had become absurd.
A week ago, Roy would've laughed if someone told him this would be his Saturday night. Now absurdity had become routine. New girlfriends. New lives. New complications. Every turn taking him somewhere new, planted in lives where he hadn't existed before, becoming as intimate as one could be each time.
He felt no shame for what he'd done with Ava. Or rather, what Ava had done with him. Not in the moment, at least. If he had been more introspective, Roy knew the guilt would come calling when he least expected it. In the car, under the streetlights, all Roy had done was sit there and enjoy it, while she plied expert skills that he was sure she had been too young to possess.
Not that he felt nothing. He felt a lot of things as he came down from the orgasm's bliss. Surprised. Relieved. Relaxed.
Aroused.
Movement outside the car caught his attention. At first it barely registered. Just a figure approaching along the sidewalk. Then Roy actually looked. Long brown hair. Confident stride. A woman making her way toward the driver's side window.
The hairs on his arms immediately stood up, the world seeming to lurch sideways, just for a moment.
And then it passed. Gone. Just like that.
Then, without a word, Ava straightened. A strange emptiness settled over her expression, as though she wasn't fully present. Without a word, she turned away from him, reached for the door handle, and let herself out of the car.
As she climbed out, Roy quickly tucked himself away, unsure how the woman would take seeing him with his pants undone and penis in the night air.
"Hey, Mom."
The approaching woman's expression softened instantly.
"Hey, sweetie. How was the run?"
"Just about to start," Ava replied. "Want to join me?"
"Maybe next time," her mother said. "When my boyfriend hasn't just gotten here."
Roy froze. Mom. Boyfriend. Ava's mom.
He leaned over to watch the conversation. From his angle he could see Ava frown.
"Your boyfriend's here?"
Without hesitation, she leaned down and poked her head back into the vehicle. Locking eyes on him, no hint of recognition, she smiled. A friendly, warm smile. No sign whatsoever that, moments earlier, her head had been in his lap.
Roy stared.
Then automatically accepted the offered handshake.
"Hi, er... I'm Roy."
"Nice to meet you."
The smile widened.
"I hear today's a big day. Happy birthday."
A blush coloured her cheeks.
"Thanks! I take cash, credit, and well-wishes."
Despite everything, Roy laughed.
"Fair enough."
"Too bad you couldn't make the party. I'm sure my mom would have loved showing you off."
Ava stepped back from the car.
"Anyway, I'm off for a run. Have fun, you two!"
"Enjoy yourself, honey," her mother called.
Ava waved and started jogging down the sidewalk. Roy watched her disappear into the darkness. Just like that. Gone. Free. Relief settled heavily into his chest. One more life returned. One more person rescued from the mess he'd created.
Unfortunately, that relief lasted only a few seconds. Because the woman standing outside his car was now looking directly at him. And she was beautiful.
Beautiful in a polished, intimidating sort of way. The kind of woman who looked like she always knew exactly what she wanted and expected the rest of the world to keep up. One eyebrow lifted.
"Well?" she asked.
Roy swallowed.
"Well what?"
"Are you coming in," she said dryly, "or do you intend to sit here idling in front of my neighbour's house all night?"
Roy closed his eyes briefly. Dropped into another woman's life. It was what he'd wanted, letting Ava go down on him in the car, but he'd hoped there'd be at least a little reprieve, a time out between girlfriends.
He turned the key and climbed out of the car. Already the beautiful stranger had rounded to the driver's side to meet him with a kiss. And as their lips touched for the first time, he wondered if Michelle's overnight bag was going to come in handy sooner than he'd thought.
