You shook your head. There was no point in risking yourself for something this dumb. Mayby its just the adrenaline rushing to your head thats causing you to even consider it.

Instead you steeled yourself, ready to close the door and then run like hell. You took a deep breath and jumped up closing the distance to your door in mere moments and slamming it closed. The sudden loud sound echoing loudly in the silent night. Scaring even yourself, but the suprise you felt was peanutes compared to what the burglar must have felt as he let out some vulgar words and dropping something that sounded expensive.

You didn't care though, as you were allready sprinting across the field to old man Benson. What must have been less than a minute, but what felt like hours you reached your neighbourghs house. A journey that would normally take you about 10 minutes of walking.

As your legs burned you nearly smashed yourself into the door. After several seconds of doorball mashing and doorsmashing the door finally opened.

In the doorway stood Old man Benson, wearing some pink pajama's that once belonged to his wife, his face scrunched up with concern

"Junior? Whats the matter? You should come inside or you'll catch a cold"

You needed a few seconds to catch your breath before you managed to squeel out "Thief"

Benson merely nodded "Come inside, i'll go call the police"

You followed gratefully, glad to be out of the cold and back into safety.

A few minutes Later you were wrapped in a warm blanket when the police knocked on the door. They had apparantly caught the burglar as he was trying to climb out the very window you had escaped from. You quickly gave your story to the police but they didn't need much. This person was apparently responsible for all the robbery's around here and they had been trying to catch them for a while now.

You slept the night at Old man Benson's house, but returned to your house the next evening. Luckily you were insured so the damage done was very little. However you started having trouble sleeping, and only after improving your security once again did your paranoia calm down enough to allow you a good nights rest. After a few months you were back in your normal routine.
