"Thank-you for the offer, but I'm afraid I have a prior engagement," you explain.

"Of course," Carol replies. "We mustn't monopolize your time."

"Not at all, I'm happy to have been of assistance." You turn to her daughter and continue. "Now, Tilly, what are you going to do the next time you're in town?"

"I'll make sure to let Sharon know I'm around…"

"Very good."

"…and if you don't mind, I'll text you to see whether you'd like to have sex again."

You certainly weren't expecting her to say that and although none of her family members say anything, they're clearly even more shocked than you. Cynthia's jaw drops and then snaps shut as she tries to hide her discombobulation, whilst you can see the parents' opinion of you swing abruptly, just from the expression on their faces. The only person apparently oblivious to the change in atmosphere is Tilly, herself. You can't think of anything to say other than that you definitely wouldn't mind at all, deliberately ignoring the obvious cooling in the other Duffys' attitudes.

With rather stiff goodbyes, the rest of the family takes its leave, whilst Tilly gives you a hug and a peck full on the lips that you're sure must irritate her parents, even though it's almost entirely chaste. She waves over her shoulder, but the others resolutely avoid looking back. As they exit through the open wicket gate, you see Carol engaging in quiet but intense conversation with her elder daughter, possibly about you, but you can hear neither her words nor Tilly's reply.

You turn away, consoling yourself that picking up the talented lover as a potential future bed mate more than outweighs the loss of appreciation from her parents, whom you'll likely never see again, anyway.
