Chapter 4 by porneia porneia

Do you agree and let her in?

No, tell her to go away.

Although $20,000 is incredibly tempting—not to mention the alluring figure of this white-haired woman—something about the whole situation feels off. Heeding your mother’s old warnings about your great-uncle, you say politely but firmly, “I’m sorry, miss, but please tell your law firm I’m not interested.” You begin to close the door.

"What?!" An incredulous look of shock runs across the shapely stranger, as if no one has ever turned her down before. “Do you understand this is twenty thousand dollars, just waiting for you to take it?” She persists, her disbelief clear. “You might be walking away from millions of dollars!”

"This is all too sudden, too over the top, and too Halloween for me," you reply. “I have to say your name to invite you in? What are you, some sort a vampire?” You mock.

“Not a vampire,” she growls under her breath, barely loud enough for you to hear. Then she mutters something indiscernible that sounds like, "Pi tam man, wek col orumo in ki obalo nino ni."

With a flick of her wrist, she pulls a business card from her jacket and flings it at you like a ninja’s shuriken. It hits your chest dead-center and then falls to the floor.

"Give me a call if you change your mind." The voluminous stranger turns and begins to walk away. "Or, if things get bad for you."

For now, this arc of the story is done.
