Bran's arms flailed uselessly as he reached for something, anything, to grab on to, but the ground soon came rushing to meet him.
Summer howled. Crows circled the broken tower.
Bran was found by Ser Rodrik, who had been sent to find the boy. He had been missing for an hour, more than usual, and his mother had begun to worry. He was rushed to his room and tended to by Maester Luwin. However, while Luwin was able to save his life, he wasn't able to save his legs. He would be paralyzed from the legs down, a cripple. Never again would he scale the walls of Winterfell. Never would he be a knight.
All of his siblings wept for him. His mother, Catelyn, was inconsolable, spending all day by his side. Summer would howl every night, mourning his companion. Ned Stark delayed his journey south, but he could only postpone it so much. Today was the day they left, and after saying goodbye to his wife and children, he left with Robert, Arya, and Sansa. Jon Snow also came to say goodbye, but left at Catelyn's request.
After everyone had said their goodbyes and left, Catelyn was left alone with her son. She began to weep, finally realizing how alone she was
