Chapter 2
by Hypnomonkey
Who is it, and what is their power?
Neo and a Command Notebook
Neo was skipping through the courtyard of Beacon Academy with a smile on her face. The mute girl was enjoying her time away from her team. Cinder had blown a gasket about something Emerald did. Neo didn't exactly care what it was. She just liked that it gave her an excuse to slack off!
And as she was walking, something caught her attention. Something shimmering gold in the bushes.
As she approached she realized it was a notebook with a golden, glittery cover. The words "Book of Obedience" written on the cover.
"Is this some kinda prank? Not a very good one!" Neo thought to herself with a smirk. If it was a prank, she could do better. She saw herself as something of a queen of pranks. The monarch of mischief... And a few other monockers she'd made for herself.
Either way, she was intrigued and picked the book up, opening it to reveal a list of rules on the front page.
Rule 0. Additional rules may be added as they are discovered
Rule 1. The person who's name is written at the start of each chapter will be subject to the commands written within each chapter.
Neo flipped through the pages. Each page was titled "Chapter ______" leaving room to write a name. Unfortunately it seemed like each chapter was only the one page, and the notebook only had about 50 pages.
Rule 2. A person may only be used as a chapter name once. However, they can be mentioned in other chapters.
Rule 3. In order to avoid discrepancies, the author must have the face of the person whos name they are writing in mind when referencing them or titling chapters to avoid people of the same name being targeted
Rule 4. The writer cannot directly modify a person's body or attire. However, they can give them commands to make these modifications themselves so long as it is possible.
Rule 5. The author can remove commands by striking them through with their writing utensil.
Rule 6. Commands can be written as direct orders to be followed on time by simply writing the command.
Rule 7. Commands can also be written as triggers, causing effects whenever certain stimuli occur
Rule 8. Commands can be altered so long as there is room to add more writing to the command
Rule 9. Commands can be given a duration or trigger to cause them to stop
Rule 10. Modifiers can be added such as whether or not the person will recall the event, specific ways in which commands will be obeyed, and so on
Rule 11. While the author can write someone in as part of another command, they cannot control them in someone else's chapter. For example, writing person A will fight person B in person A's chapter will only **** person A to perform the action. Person B may not follow unless an additional command is added to their page.
Rule 12. If someone other than the author touches the book, any phenomena related to the book which they have experienced will become apparent to them.
Neo sighed. If this really was a prank it was insanely elaborate... But she figured she may as well try it out. Worst case it didn't work and she would just toss it. But best case...
She pulled a pen from her purse with a grin.
