Chapter 8 by Atary Atary

What's next?

My mom as Allison.

You spent the first few days home in a shocked silence. Your dad had broken the news to Tabitha and David before you had been released, so they had more time to cope than you. Tabitha was mostly concerned about you when you first got in, David mumbled a few words of greeting and then slunk off. Your dad was wound up tight, and basically spent most of his time in his office. Not having your mom around was odd, grim, the house just wasn't the same without her. The knowledge that she was still alive was comforting, but it just wasn't the same, and you had to remind yourself that it would never be the same again.

Tabitha had taken the news well, she was broken up over Allison, but she seemed ashamed to admit that she was glad that mom had survived. You were still torn on that yourself, two parts of your life were gone, the mother that you knew, and the girlfriend that you know. You didn't know what was going to happen, you certainly couldn't continue going out with 'Allison', but that would leave you alone for the prom that was just weeks away. And besides, you couldn't be seen dumping your girlfriend of two years right after a big accident, and right before prom for that matter. David didn't respond to much external stimuli as usual, he complained about the cooking but that seemed to be the only thing he seemed to notice different.

Three days after you had arrived home, you answered the phone at home just after you had gotten home from school. It was Allison's mother, and she was asking if it would be okay if your mother could come over, she had just been released that morning. "Of course!" You responded. She would be there soon, and you looked around. The kitchen was in a state of shambles. The moment David and Tabitha walked in from school you tossed them each some cleaning supplies. "Mom is coming for a visit, this place better look spik and span by the time she gets here." Tabitha went to work, glad to help, while David complained as per usual. You smacked him upside the head and told him to smarten up. Your father wouldn't be home from work until dinner time so it would just be your and your siblings there with your mother at first. You had just finished up when you heard the front door open. You walked out of the kitchen into the entry hall to find Allison- your mother, standing there. She had her hair golden up in a pony tail, and had actually bothered to put some make-up on. Not quite like how Allison would have done it, but your heart fluttered at her beauty. I loved her. You seemed to realise. She wore a sweater and a pair of jeans and some of Allison's old sneakers. Even under the non-flattering sweater, Allison's large breasts were prominent. You had grown so accustomed to being able to just stare at them, that you had to **** yourself to make eye contact with your mother.

She smiled and rushed forward. and embraced you. You arms wrapped around her, And greeted her with a laugh. She seemed in good spirits, better than when you had last seen her certainly. She and Tabitha hugged to, you thought it would be easier for the two of them to adjust, since Tabitha and Allison had been almost like sisters. David was apprehensive when your mother went to hug home, and you noticed his hover hands when she brought him in. You invited her into the kitchen and asked if she wanted some tea or coffee.

"Tea, thank you." She looked around. "I was worried it was going to be a disaster in here."

"We pitched in." Said Tabitha, and looked at David, who was studying his shoes. "Some more than others." He didn't seem to hear.

"Well I'm glad things haven't collapsed without me." Said your mom. "I'm just glad to be out of that hospital, but all of this is going to be difficult to adjust to."

"That's what we're here for." You smiled. "I could tell you most anything about Allison, it probably helps that we've been dating for two years."

David made a strange noise and your noticed your mother's slender neck redden a bit. "Yeah. Kim- Alli's mother, gave me Alli's diary. I don't know if I want to invade her privacy like that but I almost feel like I need to..."

For a moment a hundred images of you and Allison entwined in bed flashed through your mind. You were sure Allison wrote about your sex lives, she had started eating up erotica novels in the months before the accident and had even suggested trying roleplay in the bedroom. If your mother read any of that..."I think you should. If you're going to pretend to be Allison I think you deserve to know things about her." Said Tabitha. That seemed to encourage your mother.

You babbled something out. "Well, I mean, Alli liked her privacy..." Your mother seemed disheartened. Seeing Allison's face like that made you want to hold her and give her anything she wanted. "But it's up to you, of course. It's your life now." She nodded. David snuk out eventually as you, Tabitha and your mom discussed various details about Allison's life. At first you thought talking about your dead girlfriend would be awkward, seeing as how her body was sitting right there with you. But you found it wasn't so bad, and it seemed to be helping your mom. She asked what kinds of things Allison liked, her interests and many other things. She had gotten to know Allison well herself over the past two years, but it seemed to help her reaffirm things. You didn't blame her, taking on a new identity would be hard.

When you began talking about school she became visibly nervous. "I'm glad that they're letting me write Allison's finals in the summer due to the accident, I'll have some time to prepare, but I don't know how I'm going to go to school. I graduated twenty two years ago and now I get to go back." She didn't seem excited. "Yippy."

"Hey, I'll be able to show you around and we're in most of the same classes anyways." You put your hand on her shoulder. "You'll be fine."

"But what about Allison's friends? Won't they notice me being different?" She asked worriedly.

You had worried about that yourself. "She has some really nice friends, and if you just say you've been having troubles since the accident, I think they'll understand."

Tabitha tried to make light of the situation. "Yeah, what, are they gonna think it's really Allison's boyfriends mom inside the hottest chick in school?" An awkward silence followed for a brief moment, your mother studied you with Allison's big green eyes.

"It's pretty far fetched, so I think you're golden." You assured her.

She smiled Allison's smile. "Thanks you two, you are the best a mother could ask for." Hearing Allison say that was bizarre. And you smiled a nervous smile.
